This sports protype race car was built in France by Tacnhaunto Caldau between 1980 and 1982 and competed in the Avenir Cup Championship while continually evolving to meet changing regulations. It was last updated in the late 1980s and features a fuel-injected Peugeot 205 engine sending power to the rear wheels through an Alpine manual transmission. This purpose-built race car is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Italy.
This sports prototype features removable open-top bodywork mounted on a tubular steel frame. The exterior is finished in blue and adorned with racing stripes, decals, fender vents, dual mirrors, an integrated roll bar, and a front spoiler. The car rides on multi-piece center-lock wheels dressed in Avon racing slicks. The seller adds that the car was last raced at the 2015 Gimkana Policoro event and has been professionally inspected in preparation for sale.
The bare metal cockpit includes a single fixed bucket seat, a 6-point racing harness, a fire extinguisher, and a flat-bottom three-spoke MOMO steering wheel. The seller states all racing safety equipment is up to date apart from the driver’s seat harness.
Power comes from a 1,300cc inline-four Peugeot 205 engine featuring Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and individual throttle bodies. The rear wheels are driven through an Alpine-sourced 4-speed manual gearbox and stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The seller notes the fuel tank is up to date and the car is in proper running order.
