This 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera 4 Cabriolet is finished in Guards Red over a Sand Beige interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. The car was configured at an original sticker price of over $102k including optional 19” Carrera Classic wheels, Adaptive Sport Seats with painted backrests, a painted center console, Guards Red seatbelts, Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package, Bose High-End Sound Package, and more. It was registered in Texas and Maryland before it was purchased by the seller, its third owner, in 2021. Having been equipped with a rebuilt replacement engine within the last 3k miles, this 997 is now being offered for auction out of Maine with just over 94k miles on the odometer.

This 997 is finished in Guards Red with a Black cabriolet top and, as a Carrera 4 model, features wider rear fenders than a standard rear-wheel-drive Carrera. Equipment includes optional bi-xenon headlamps, integrated fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, a speed-activated rear spoiler, Porsche-branded brake calipers, and optional 19” Carrera Classic wheels. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires showing production date codes from 2015 in the front and 2020 in the rear. The bumper covers are said to have been refinished and a small paint chip was touched up near the rear passenger side wheel well. Three small dents are noted on the hood along with several other small dents and scratches around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Sand Beige interior includes optional heated Adaptive Sport Seats in leather with Guards Red painted backrests and matching seatbelts. Other options include a Guards Red painted rear center console, self-dimming mirrors, and a Bose High-End Sound Package. The seller states that a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX head unit has been installed with an integrated backup camera. Some minor scuff marks are noted on the seats and all accessories and electronics are said to be working properly.

A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 325 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Having purchased this car with known bore scoring in its original motor, the seller acquired a replacement engine with 35k miles, rebuilt it using all new parts, and removed the plastic IMS bearing shield per engine builder Jake Raby’s recommendation. The seller reports that the car has been driven less than 2,500 miles since the engine rebuild and installation.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I bought my first Porsche, a 1967 911 in 1972. I paid Reitzel Porsche/Audi full price ($3795) with the deal being that I would spend 8 hours working with the head mechanic going all over the car. I have since owned 24 Porsches always doing all the repairs and maintenance. I am an engineer and a DIY guy. In 2017 I attended Jake Raby's M96/97 engine rebuild class in Atlanta. This red car is my 3rd engine build. When I bought the replacement engine I pulled the heads assuming that I would send the case halves to LN for the "Nickies" cylinder sleeves. The cylinder walls were spotless, with no sign of bore scoring. I put the long block back together using all new parts and replacing all normal wear items. I also removed the outer plastic shield on the RMS per Jake's recommendation. This car is now mechanically perfect. I have put 2500 miles on the replacement engine. I am selling this car as I have recently finished a 2006 997 4.0 build.”

@TILLMAN67 I believe the top is the original one. I also believe the car was garaged most of its life (the headlights are totally clear). You can see the lines where the support rails are. The is no wear thru and it does not leak.

We recently had our 2006 stolen and the engine blown. It had 160,000+ miles on it and was in near perfect shape. Huge bummer. Our top was nearing replacement. I see the video of the top operation - thank you. But what is the overall shape of the top? Any holes or places where it doesn't fit as it should? Any leaking in the rain?

Just as jab7106 mentioned below, I also am familiar with the sellers work and would absolutely not hesitate to purchase any vehicle he has laid his hands on. His engineering background and passion for Porsche is evident in the quality of work his shop produces... The new owner will be very satisfied in all aspects of this superb machine.

Yes, the seats still operate correctly. The wear on the driver side bolster looks much worse in the photo than in real life. I have been told that a good upholstery person can sand those areas and re-dye. There is no wear through.
The head unit does control the stock CD.

  • marmoset (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Do the seats still function properly? Is any of that wear through the leather? Does the head unit control the stock CD player? thx

I will have P-CAR post the driving video today along with a few more pictures of interest.
    Definitely a daily driver.
This engine is from a 2006 and has the larger IMS bearing. The data says it is trouble free. I did remove the outer plastic shield from the bearing when I put everything back together. This allows the bearing to be continuously submerged in engine oil. This is what both Jake Raby (FSI) and Charles Navarro (LN) recommend.

  • lennyturk (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Hello GLWS .Can we have a driving video ?Would you call it a daily driver ? I heard the early 997s may also suffer from IMS problem like the 996s .Did you get it checked ??

  • stunistu (seller) 2 weeksago

Welcome to my auction. I will be here for the next 7 days to answer any questions.
P-CAR will soon be posting 3 videos of a cold start, top up/down, and driving video along with more photos of the former owner's dealer repairs and my parts receipts.

I know the engine builder personally and can state confidently that attention to detail and doing things correctly are his guiding principles. How do I know? ........ I have spent the last 9 months working with him to rebuild my 987 Cayman S engine. It is now running flawlessly. Bid with confidence on this one......GLWTA
