Introduced in 1996, the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK, internally known as the R170, showcased the innovative Vario-Roof retractable hardtop system. Powered by a supercharged 2.3-liter inline-four mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, this 1998 example is finished in Yellowstone over a Black leather interior and features 16” alloy wheels, heated and power-adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, an AM/FM stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer, and cruise control. This SLK230 is now being auctioned at no reserve by its seller out of Canada.
Finished in Yellowstone, this example showcases a body-color power Vario-Roof retractable hardtop and Kompressor badging. Additional equipment comprises a mesh front grille, headlight washers, integrated fog lights, dual integrated roll bars, a heated windshield washer system, black door handles, a polished single exhaust tip, and silver-finished 16” alloy wheels. Additional images are available in the gallery, along with a CARFAX report detailing a "potential odometer rollback" recorded around April 2002, at approximately 45,300 miles.
The cabin features heated Black seats upholstered in Black leather, complemented by carbon-look trim on the dashboard. Amenities encompass cruise control, dual-zone climate control, SLK-branded floor mats, brushed door sill trim, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
Power comes from a supercharged 2.3-liter inline-four, which delivers a factory-rated 185 HP and 200 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel anti-lock discs facilitate braking power. The seller notes that routine maintenance has been performed on the vehicle, including fluid replacement after its indoor winter storage.
