Topping the range of the first generation water-cooled 911, this 996 Turbo is powered by a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This 2001 example is finished in Black over a matching interior and features heated front seats, draped leather front and rear seats, a custom tune, lowering springs, and more. This 996 was purchased by its current owner in 2017 from Intersport Performance of Ashburn, Virginia, and it is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia with under 87k miles showing on the odometer.
Finished in Black, this Turbo features model-specific bumpers, wide fenders with side air intakes, flared rocker panels, red brake calipers, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. It rides on 18” Turbo Twist wheels that were sandblasted, powder coated, and wrapped in Sumitomo HTZR5 tires showing date codes from 2020. The seller notes the front bumper was repainted in 2022, the rear spoiler mechanism was replaced with the Rennkit eRam system, and the car was paint-corrected and ceramic coated in November 2020 at 78k miles. Also noted are minor rock chips, one very light surface scratch near the driver’s side air intake, and minor curb rash on the passenger rear wheel. Inside, this 996 features Black leather upholstery with matching floor mats and optional draped leather front and rear seats. Additional options include heated front seats, a leather center console, the shifter and handbrake in aluminum, and a CD compartment. The seller reports that a JVC KW-NT700 head unit has been fitted with navigation, Bluetooth and hands-free calling, SiriusXM, a backup camera, and a microphone above the windshield. It is also reported that the trim surrounding the shifter is slightly delaminating. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be functioning properly.
Powered by a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine, the 996 Turbo sends up to 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft. of torque, in stock form, to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH is achievable in approximately 4 seconds, with stopping power coming from fixed 4-piston calipers and 330mm cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller states that the car has a custom Stage 1 tune dyno tested by Intersport Performance as well as Bilstein B4 shocks and lowering springs that the previous owner fitted. Additionally, the seller reports the rear brakes will need attention in the next year or so, and to have completed all recommended maintenance along with replacing all coil packs, spark plugs, and sway bar links, as well as the power steering pump, battery, engine mounts, alternator, and clutch slave cylinder.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, a set of Weathertech floor mats, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I moved up from a 996 C4S to buy this amazing turbo. I hate to sell it, but I just added a nice turbo to my fleet, and I am out of space in my conditioned garage. It drives like a new car without any squeaks or rattles, and everything works like it should. Why selling? I am getting to the age to buy one last car and decided to buy an '07 997.1 turbo. It will be my last Porsche. Why selling? My wife asks me every day if I have made it perfect, and if it is kept and maintained like a quality sports car should be kept. @Jlwhisler1 exactly as you stated. I had 2 997 GT3s and 1 997 GT3 RS, none of which had the coolant lines touched. the RS was heavily tracked, and one of the other GT3s was sold w/78K miles and tracked (IIRC). Never an issue...

Metzger engines tend to eject the coolant pipe stubs under racing conditions and dump coolant all over the track. I do know from driving it and sitting there standing next to it after we drove it that it doesn’t smell like coolant at all. The coolant pipes is something that’s probably desirable but it certainly not required. My 997 GT3 is not pinned either, for the same reason it hasn’t failed yet and I haven’t found a reason to drop the engine and do it otherwise. if you don’t like it, don’t bid on it, but don’t act like it’s deficient because it hasn’t been done. X 50 cars bring a little more money. Pinned cars bring a slight bit more money. Cars is more options bring more money. But again this isn’t a fault of the car. It’s just an optional modification has not been done. on from this. And let’s talk about the whole car not just one little thing that doesn’t matter to a lot of people.
@EVOBIC So , I forced myself to do something I don’t like doing. I had to learn how to remove the air cleaner body and shot one connection I had access to. I could not get a better picture. It’s all I am willing to do. Added to gallery.

@Jlwhisler1 taking a picture of the coolant pipes from the rear of the engine is like taking a picture of the rear of the engine as long as you know where the cooling pipes are it's really simple to take a picture of that area if you don't know where that area is then I can email you a picture of a failed unit and you can see exactly where it is relative to the pulley That's a fair request. It's like someone asking for a picture of a wheel or a picture of a bumper it's just a picture
@EVOBIC I am not going to be able to address your request. I have nothing to hide but I completely trust my shop owner who has been doing this for decades and races 996’s. He would look for any opportunity to get money from me and his opinion is that I should not worry about it unless I track. I don’t. With 2 days left before the end of the auction I don’t have the means satisfy your request. I know I don’t currently leak.

@Jlwhisler1 there are two types of 996 turbo cooling pipes. Those that have failed and those that will fail. The epoxy used by Porsche was found to be faulty. By the time Porsche stopped dancing and kicking the can down the road the 997 was introduced. The Epoxy still failed and Porsche recalled 100 % of production. I'm not looking for an argument just highlighting the facts.
Can you take a close up hi rez photo of the cooling tubes at the entrance of the block. This would at least show if they are working their way out? If they are it is an immediate $5000 repair. If you look back on previous 996 turbos for sale on BaT the owners boast that the work was completed bring more money than the sales where the work was not done.

@nobrakes Negative. All of the items you list are completed. The car needs nothing. The receipts are in the gallery. This car is pristine, cosmetically and mechanically.

@AZCollector Negative on both. My shop races cars and only recommends doing the cooling lines if using car on the track. They say that you have time to shut it down in case of a leak during regular use. The risk does not exceed the cost.
Have the cooling tubes been welded or pinned? And has the Crank Pulley Pin been replaced?
For those of you who often hear about claims that a car was completely maintained, I have included in the gallery my complete set of maintenance records since buying the car in 2017. These records represent $35,000 in repairs, routine maintenance and optional upgrades. I keep all of my cars at this level of operational maintenance. I don’t kick the can down the road when something needs attention. Nothing requires attention and everything operates as it should or better.

I visited with John and I drove it 15 Miles and looked over all the service records. This car is every bit as good as represented and probably better. Very Well documented and has had a ton of maintenance records and
Work performed on it because John does not seem to like anything at all that annoys him about his cars, he’s very particular. But it runs and drives and shifts as good as anything I’ve seen and John is a very straightforward and transparent seller. Buy the seller here, guys like him are rare.

Yes, it operates exactly like OEM. The only difference is that it has a mechanical screw instead of hydraulics. The last video in my gallery shows it operating. You can either use the switch on the dash or let it operate automatically. Up at 74mph and down at 37 mph.

Remember that the data is measured at the wheels, not the crank. You’ll have to pick whichever multiplier you believe is correct from the internet. There are many, many opinions on the topic.

I have the dyno output and can that to my picture file if interested. It is the before and after data.
The “tune” was done by Charlie Murphy at Intersport. It was a custom tune. Intersport convinced me that off the shelf stage 1 upgrades were different on every car and that they would tune me to have both a fast car and a safe car. I bought in. In this area,Charlie Murphy is known as the Porsche whisperer. Multiple racing teams hire him to tune their cars. He prepares both 911’s for race day and he designs and races tether cars that go over 200 mph. His collection of tether cars goes back decades. I assume you could default to factory but don’t know. I love how the car performs. It improved the fuel usage.

Bumperette Lives Matter!
For those watching my car, I just had the rear brake pads checked at my shop today and my mechanic laughed at my lack of judgment. Near the end of my advertisement I stated that the next maintenance item might be rear brakes in a year or two. He took a picture and said the pads are twice as thick as the backing and have many years to go.
@larrygk Larry, because of your question, I just had the rev zones and ignitions pulled from the computer by my shop. Nothing significant, for the record. But for the record, the shop says it’s not relevant with the Mezger engine that was made to handle more than red line on the track. Nonetheless, I can provide that specific data if you message me directly.

Just FYI the option codes signify the following for the car: Leather center console; aluminum inlay gear lever and handbrake; both front seats heated; CD compartment; CD Radio Becker CDR 220; Draped leather front and rear seats.

Yes, I have the output from the dyno which is the output at the wheels, not the crank. If you use generally accepted factors for loss from crank to wheels, I calculate on a good day a hp of 500 and a torque of 525. I can send you the curves if you have an email address I can use.
With custom tune any DME report available? What was the benefit of that tune? Thanks in advance.
