Available for auction is an original IWC Porsche Design Compass Watch, or Kompassuhr, reference 3510. The watch has become known for its revolutionary design utilizing new materials, colors, and manufacturing techniques. The Reference 3510 case is made with a PVD coating on aluminum and measures 39mm wide and 12mm high. The watch is remarkably compact given its hinged case featuring four sapphire glasses.

Inside the case is an automatic movement, IWC calibre 375, with 22 jewels. This ingenious construction claimed five international patents. The watch features an antimagnetic movement to prevent any interference with the compass. The glass protecting the dial is hardness 9 sapphire crystal with a glare-free coating. The compass, when removed from the watch, has the same sapphire crystal on both sides so you can use it independently and lay it on a map without obscuring your view. On the back of the movement is an emergency signaling mirror – a hail mary for a lost explorer trying to get the attention of a passing search aircraft.

The seller states the watch is in good working condition with scratches from normal use. The original bracelet has been replaced with a new NATO strap in black from The Watch Bandit based out of Germany. Included in the sale are the original watch booklets, a replacement new IWC box, a framed original 1986 Rallye Paris-Dakar poster featuring the Porsche 959, and an original Minichamps model of the Rallye Paris-Dakar Porsche 959. Don't miss your opportunity to own this unique piece of Porsche Design watch and 1986 Rallye Paris-Dakar history. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees.

Hi All! Welcome to the auction for this iconic IWC x Porsche Design Compass Watch.

As you may know, these have become highly collectible and have a cult following.

This particular example is the early reference 3510, the first and most classic version, with "IWC" in sans-serif, "International Watch Co." in cursive script, and "Schaffhausen" in capitalized serifed italics.

The watch is in great working order with nice patina that fits the "explorer" character of the model. No major scratches on the crystal or compass. All features operate as designed.

This is the 4th Compass watch that I have owned. I typically like wearing these with NATO straps rather than the original bracelet, which is very light and scratches easily. This watch strap is my go-to NATO from The Watch Bandit out of Germany. They are excellent quality.

Feel free to ask questions. It's a reasonable reserve price.

Will post a video of the features.
