In 1944, Willys-Overland, one of the original manufacturers of the Jeeps used in World War 2, produced the prototype of the Jeep CJ (civilian Jeep). The CJ-2A was the first full production model, and used many parts from military surplus. This 1946 example was acquired by the seller from his father who is reported to have purchased it sometime near the time of production. Accompanied by a full canvas top, a .30 caliber machine gun mount, original Army maintenance manuals, a grenade storage box, a shovel, original decontamination bottles, and boxes of spare parts, this 1946 Jeep CJ-2A is being offered at auction by its seller out of Washington.

This Jeep is finished in military Olive Drab, painted at some point during the original ownership. The seller reports all panels to appear original and straight, and the underbody is free of any signifcant corrosion. The CJ-2A can be identified by its larger headlights and seven-slot grille. Exterior equipment includes a full canvas top, a foldable windshield, a driver’s side mirror, a steel front bumper with a folding attachment mount, mesh headlight covers, a paint-matched roll bar, a trailer hitch, recovery points, and a rear tire carrier. The seller reports the paint-matched steel wheels to appear wider than stock and mounted with all-terrain tires.

The interior features fixed-back front seats and a rear bench upholstered in olive green vinyl. An aftermarket roll bar has been fitted and the mileage shown on the 5-digit odometer is said to be original, although this cannot be confirmed.

A 2.2L L134 Go-Devil inline 4-cylinder engine produces up to 60HP and 105 lb.-ft of torque, sent to the rear or all four wheels through a Borg-Warner T-90 3-speed manual and two-speed transfer case. The CJ-2A was produced with a body on frame construction including rigid live axles with leaf springs both front and rear, making for a capable offroad machine.

This sale will include a clean title, original Army service manuals, a canvas top, a .30 caliber machine gun mount, a grenade storage box, a military shovel, original decontamination bottles, and some spare parts.

This jeep has a clean title and "out of commission". I'm from California and to register this might be big problems....your thoughts? Was it leagally drivable on the streets of Spokane?

This Jeep runs and drives and stops just fine. As you can see in the provided video, this little honey starts instantly. Sorry, but, with only an hour left, no any additional video as I am not at my shop today. I can assure you it runs and stops just as well as it did in 1946 :)

Does the 2A drive and stop properly? Any chance for a driving video?
