Launched in 1945 as the first post-war MG, the TC was only built and exported in right-hand drive configuration and was equipped with a 1,250cc XPAG engine that is known for its tunability. This 1949 TC was refinished in Shire Green under a previous owner and features a beige leather interior. Notable details include upgraded Laystall Lucas aluminum cylinder heads, an aftermarket luggage rack, 19” chrome-finished wire wheels, and a recently rebuilt braking system. Accompanied by documentation dating back to the 1980s, this MG TC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Iowa.

This MG was refinished in Shire Green some years ago under prior ownership and is complemented by a beige soft top, tonneau cover, and side curtains. Exterior details include louvered sides on the front hood, driver and passenger side mirrors, rear-hinged doors, pronounced running boards, and an aftermarket luggage rack. It rides on 19” chrome-finished wire wheels dressed in Ensign tires that are said to have been installed in 2021. The seller notes some chips around the hood hinge and debris in the lower left rear fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features a right-hand drive configuration and is upholstered in its original beige leather that can be found on the seats and pocketed door panels. Details include a 4-spoke banjo-style steering wheel, black carpeting and MG-branded floor mats, a chrome passenger grab handle, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly apart from the front fog lights.

This TC is equipped with a 1,250cc XPAG inline four-cylinder engine with upgraded Laystall Lucas aluminum cylinder heads and dual SU carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the brakes were rebuilt in 2022, which included the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines, and shoes, with the addition of Alfin aluminum drums. Additionally, the seller notes that the fluids have been changed in preparation for the sale.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manual, and spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “Being the first sports cars to arrive in the US makes these very special historically.  A spirited car to drive & enjoy every outing”

It was 80 degrees in Iowa yesterday and felt I should take the MG for a spin. It is a very easy starting car, takes right to an idle, & carried normal temperature through out my drive. All this is testimony to the long term care given to this jewel by the previous owner. In a few hours we hope for a new owner & they will enjoy the MG as much as we have. Good Luck to the bidders
