Introduced in mid-1949, the two-door Plymouth Suburban marked a significant milestone as the first all-steel station wagon from an American automaker in the post-war era. The Special Suburban, unveiled in September 1950, featured distinctive details such as bright quarter panel stone guards, window trim, and Special Suburban fender badges. Originally sold by Turnure & Blood Chrysler-Plymouth of New York, New York, this 1950 Plymouth Special Suburban remained in the state until acquired by the selling dealer in 2023. Finished in blue over tan cloth upholstery, it is powered by a 217.8ci L-head inline-six mated to a column-shift 3-speed manual transmission. The wagon is equipped with chrome bumpers and trim, a split-folding tailgate, front and rear bench seats, an AM radio, and a heater. This Plymouth wagon is offered by the selling dealer in New Jersey and comes with 1950s service records.

Adorned with a blue finish, this Special Suburban showcases distinctive features, including bright quarter panel stone guards, window trim, Special Suburban fender badges, chrome bumpers, a hood ornament, a split windshield, a driver-side mirror, sliding side windows, and a split-folding tailgate. It is fitted with black-finished 15" steel wheels complemented by chrome hubcaps and Cushion Ride whitewall bias-ply tires. The seller notes paint bubbles on the driver door, pitting on the tailgate hinges, and cracked window seals.

The cabin features front and rear bench seating trimmed in tan corduroy cloth, complemented by brown upholstery on the seat backs, door panels, and dashboard. It is equipped with tan carpets, a push-button AM radio, a heater, and a locking glovebox. The seller notes the three-spoke steering wheel has some cracks and areas of paint loss, and it encompasses a 100-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges.

Power comes from a 217.8ci L-head inline-six that was factory-rated at 97 HP and drives the rear wheels through a column-shift 3-speed manual transmissionThe Suburban boasts a coil-sprung independent front suspension and a live rear axle with leaf springs. Hydraulic drums provide stopping power at all four corners. The seller states that an oil change was last performed in May 2023.

The car does not have a title as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its New York registration, which expired in October 2022.
