The Ford F-1 remains a beloved classic, celebrated for its ruggedness, simplicity, and quintessential 1950s American truck design. It holds a significant place in automotive history as part of the lineage that evolved into today’s Ford F-Series trucks, among the best-selling vehicles in the world. This professionally restored example, resulting from a 3-year comprehensive restoration totaling approximately $250k, is a multiple concours winner. Powered by a “French” 255ci Flathead V8 with Offenhauser aluminum cylinder heads and intake, dual Stromberg “97” carburetors, and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, it is finished in Tropical Green over an Italian Grey leather interior. It features an early Ford rear end by Currie Enterprises, a black walnut bed by Bedwood, a lowered front axle, stainless steel brake and fuel lines, a stainless-steel exhaust system by Stainless Steel Mufflers, Speedway Engineering front and rear sway bars, and custom wheels by Wheel Smith. This meticulously restored F-1 truck is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
Constructed with a steel body, the F-1 truck showcases a boxy, utilitarian design typical of early 1950s pickups, marked by its robust and straightforward appearance. The 1951 model features an updated grille design with an intricate horizontal bar layout, a signature look for that year. This example is professionally refurbished and refinished in Tropical Green by Bruce’s Rod Shop in Spring, Texas. It includes an early Ford 9” rear end by Currie Enterprises, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, Frenched fenders, body-color running boards, V8 badging, and a custom black walnut bed by Bedwood. The original front axle has been lowered by 4 inches. It rides on white-finished 17” front and 18”rear custom billet wheels by Wheel Smith, adorned with chrome Ford hubcaps and wrapped in Coker tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin, professionally restored by Third Coast Custom Interiors, features a bench seat and door panels reupholstered in textured Italian Grey leather, complemented by grey square weave carpets covering the floor. Additional features include a body-color dashboard, power windows, a Vintage Air conditioning unit, new gauges, a floor-mounted shifter, and a custom stereo. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order with no warning lights illuminated.
Power is delivered by a “French” 255ci Flathead V8, featuring Offenhauser aluminum cylinder heads and intake, dual Stromberg “97” carburetors, and a Powermaster PowerGEN alternator. The rear wheels are driven by a Borg-Warner T-5 5-speed manual transmission. Additional features include stainless steel brake and fuel lines, a stainless-steel exhaust system by Stainless Steel Mufflers, and front and rear sway bars from Speedway Engineering & Bruce’s Rod Shop. The seller notes that the truck recently underwent maintenance in preparation for the sale.
This sale will include a clean title.
