This 1956 BMW R50/2 is a non-running example that is ready to be revived and is fitted with a 594cc twin engine, taken from an R69 of the period, mated to its original 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in black with white pinstripes, it was acquired by the current owner in the summer of 2023. This 1956 BMW R50/2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wyoming.

Finished in black over a black double cradle frame, this R50/2 features white pinstripes, dual chrome exhaust pipes, a 4.5-gallon fuel tank, a Denfeld solo seat, a Buddy jumper seat, a center stand, a left side handlebar-mounted mirror, and rides on 18” wire spoke wheels wrapped in Metzeler tires. The seller reports some surface rust on bare hardware and chips in the paint, as well as some wear in the seat. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

This 1956 R50/2 is powered by a 594cc opposed twin engine, #653003 taken from an R69 model, while the frame is numbered 552944. Featuring dual Bing carburetors, chrome air intake tubes, and a chrome dual exhaust with torpedo-style mufflers, it produces up to 35 HP sent to the rear wheel by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes an enclosed driveshaft, an Earles fork, a friction-plate steering damper, a rear swingarm, and hydraulic shocks.

This sale will include an air pump and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Welcome to my auction for a cool vintage BMW motorcycle. I just bought it this summer mainly to acquire some parts needed for my other projects. Now that I’m clearing out my shop it has to go too. It is a solid project that turns over easily with good compression. I haven’t tried to start it, but the previous owner did say it ran.”

@The914 I can store the bike for a reasonable time after the auction end.

  • The914 (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Thank you for your response. Are you able to store this bike in your beautiful shop while the winning bidder makes travel arrangements? What is the nearest city to your location?

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

This bike was part of a sale with this bike plus a collection of parts.
Nothing was removed from this motorcycle.
The other bikes and parts are now sold and gone as well.

  • The914 (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

May I ask, what were the parts you needed? Can we assume they are now missing from this sale beauty?
