The successor to Jaguar’s first postwar sports car the XK120, the XK140 was manufactured from 1954 to 1957 and featured improved brakes, rack & pinion steering, telescopic shock absorbers, and increased interior space. This 1956 example is a Roadster or Open Two-Seater (OTS) that underwent a frame-off restoration in 2005 before joining the seller’s collection in 2011. Accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate showing a numbers matching engine and transmission, this XK140 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
The XK140 can be distinguished from its predecessor by its larger chrome bumpers with overriders, a Jaguar badge incorporated into the grille surround, chrome trim strips on the bonnet and trunk lid, and a rear boot emblem celebrating Jaguar’s victories at Le Mans from 1951-1953. This example was refinished in red from its original Black color during the restoration in 2005. Equipment includes a black convertible top and tonneau cover, a chrome split windscreen frame, a racing-style gas lid, a leather hood strap, Lucas driving lights, and factory 16” chrome wire wheels with double-eared knockoffs and Vredestein Sport Classic tires. The seller notes the tires were mounted in 2018 and the exterior remains in very good overall condition apart from a small dent on the edge of a fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is appointed with tan carpets and Connolly leather upholstery covering the seats, dashboard, and door panels. Accessories include lap belts, a black four-spoke steering wheel, a polished handbrake and passenger grab handle, analog Smiths gauges, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The seller notes some minor signs of aging are present and the speedometer needle intermittently bounces, although all gauges and accessories remain fully functional.
This Jaguar is equipped with a 3.4-liter DOHC straight-six engine with dual carburetors and an output of 190 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller indicates routine maintenance has been kept up to date over the years and the brake drums were replaced along with the alternator in 2014. Images of the engine and transmission case stampings are posted in the galley along with the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a jack, a maintenance chart, a clean title, and a collection of documentation.

I don't have any car questions seeing that it's been on the auction block for 7 days. I do however have 2 questions...#1 Do you know any of the Harbour family in Jupiter? #2. Do you have relatives in Illinois? I'm a Wilson in Illinois and I think this Jag would be nice to add to my 64 vette to start my Wilson Collection North. Haha

@Havenhearth Haha alot of questions. I will address then one at a time.
1) I suspect the cable is simply worn
2) Original steering wheel does not come with the car
3) It is driven about a mile every month or so to keep things moving. Only things apparent are the manifold paint, bouncy speedometer, small dent on the fender, and bouncy ammeter
4) Information of car during prior ownership is unknown
5) No paperwork from previous owner
6) No photos before restoration, rust repair unknown ( however I will say there appears to be no rust after 12 years of ownership, there is likely no issue)

In the video the speedometer needle appears to be bouncing a Lot. Any comment on that?
Attractive though the present steering wheel appears, does the original accompany the car?
The car presents well. How much has it been driven since in the collection? Is there re-commissioning to be done? ( Clearly the speedo needs to be rebuilt )
Do You know the history of where this car lived? and for how long?
Is there service paperwork from previous owners?
Are there any photos of the car before restoration? Was there any rust repair done on this vehicle?

Where is the car located?
@Bloodyknuckles please read the Jaguar heritage trust certificate shown in photo 314, as it clearly states this to be an “SE” non C-Type head.
That plaque only came on MC/se cars. Only 140’s with c-head, running lights and wire wheels. This must have been added during “restoration”. Not Original to this model.
@Yhaf this car is real, and it comes with the Jaguar Certificate, which shows it is a numbers matching car.
@Yhaf all of the XK-140s received this plaque. It was Jaguar proclaiming the car was built just like the their race cars. Just something Jaguar did at that time.... a marketing tactic you could say. Different years had deferent plaques.
the gold tag on the passenger side says replica.... is this an original car or a reproduction??
@cvcholdings The car does not com with a wood steering wheel. If you look at photo 81, left side of the gap. It was hard to capture by camera but you can see a little kink on the edge of the fender.

@Yhaf https://youtu.be/mNHcdN7xRqQ The carbs were just rebuilt and the cold start carb was gone through and functions properly. Notice the hissing noise coming from the starter carb assembly. Also as noted in the video description, the car hasn't run for a few days and so it took three attempts for the carbs to prime.

@Yhaf it has not been converted. It is a positive ground system.
