Available for auction is this 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica finished in Slate Grey over a brown interior. Built by Vintage Speedsters out of the Arizona location in 2018, this example is based on a 1969 Volkswagen and features an air-cooled 1915cc flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Receiving annual maintenance and cared for by only two owners since new, this Speedster Replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona showing just under 3k miles on the odometer.
This 356 features handcrafted fiberglass bodywork has been finished in Slate Grey with a black convertible soft top and matching full and short tonneau covers. The 15" slotted chrome wheels are accented by crested nipple hubcaps and come dressed in Pirelli P4 Radial tires. Exterior highlights include rear Porsche and 1600 Super badging, front fender Speedster script, a louvered rear deck, tear-drop tail lights, and two side mirrors. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior is finished in a unique and tasteful baseball-glove-brown vinyl. It features a painted dashboard, Coco floor mats, a Nardi wood steering wheel, Bluetooth radio, and 356-style instrument gauges with green markings. All gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly. The seller reports that the driver’s side outside door button does not work, but the inside handle does. A new, uninstalled handle is included with the sale.
This Speedster Replica is equipped with an air-cooled 1915cc flat-four engine featuring Dual Solex carburetors, which sends power to a 3:88 4-speed manual "Freeway Flyer" transmission. Vintage Speedsters uses a restored Volkswagen floor pan shortened and mated to a custom fabricated 2"×4" 11-gauge steel frame. This results in a rigid structure that retains the VW pan design while also including the original Speedster’s slightly offset steering wheel. Other options include disc brakes, sway bars, and an auxiliary oil cooler. The seller notes that this vehicle was serviced and tuned annually, which included valve adjustments and head torque.
This sale includes a clean title, two sets of keys, extensive documentation, and a car cover.

Interesting video too. The last wide shot of the location is more than familiar to me. Having been a graduate of ASU in 1985. And in the theater department as a tech, I recognized Gamage Theater immediately. One of Frank Lloyd Wright's greatest works in my opinion. GLTTWB.

Thanks for the bid and nice comments. Since I have always had it serviced In the early fall, it is about due again. I did not have it done early because I think most buyers would, as I have always done with a new car, have it serviced to give me a known starting point.

Fyi, i am not concerned in the least about the location of the brake master cylinder reservoir and the e brake configuration as it pertains to the under dash e brake lever... i do like that you have the freeway flyer trans AND that you adjusted the valves and torqued the heads EVERY YEAR even tho your car only has TWO THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED and TWO miles since new... this is a great car!!! Sorry that you have to sell... i will give it a great home if i am the LUCKY BUYER... i've had 7 real speedsters through the years, and am currently priced out of THAT market... sincerely...

@jcarpenter9 @jcarpenter9. "They stopped the car every time" sounds like famose last words to me. I would still like to see the e-brake configuration under the car.
If you can wait until Monday, I can call Vintage Speedsters and ask them. I have never personally checked the brake fluid. It has been checked during the annual maintenance tune up and service that has been done on the car. I have never had a problem with the brakes. They stop the car every time.
@jcarpenter9 I'm curious about the emergency brake components that are located under the front end of the car, that are attached to the emergency brake handle under the dash. Different builders do it different ways and I'm curious how the Arizona version of Vintage Speedsters did it. If you have or can borrow a regular floor jack it would be easy to jack up the front to take some pictures.
Makes it a little difficult to know if you are low on brake fluid if you can't see the brake fluid reservoir.
When you say e-brake, I assume you mean the emergency brake. I do not have a lift at my disposal and cannot get under the car to see or photograph anything. The emergency brake handle is under the dash, on the driver's side. I do not know where the brake fluid reservoir is located. It is not in the front trunk area. Only the fuel tank and battery are up front. The car is registered as a 1969 VW in Arizona.
Can you please post some pictures of the e-brake system from underneath the front of the car? Also, where is the brake fluid reservoir that is typically located in the frunk? Is the car registered as a VW in Arizona?

Yes. There are some minor chips on the nose. That is why I included the photos in the posting. Unfortunately that is unavoidable in Arizona. They look a little worse in the photos than they really are. Jim

I assume it is a standard VW type 1 setup and that, I believe, is a swing axle. thank you for your interest.
Nice color combination and love the proper hand brake and heater valve locations. Is this set up with Swing Axle or IRS rear suspension?
