Crafted by the esteemed JPS Motorsports in San Marcos, California, this Porsche 356 Super 1600 Replica boasts a robust 1776cc air-cooled alloy 4-cylinder boxer engine, equipped with dual down-draft carburetors and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It comes finished in Ruby Red over a Cashmere Sport interior and features front and rear independent suspension, an array of VDO gauges, air conditioning, power windows, a Nardi wood steering wheel, chrome-finished 356 wheels, and much more. Showing approximately 17k miles on the odometer, this exceptional 356 Coupe replica example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

The handcrafted steel-reinforced fiberglass body is mounted to a customized Volkswagen Beetle chassis. Finished in Ruby Red, this example showcases body-color bumpers complete with front and rear bumper guards, along with pop-out rear quarter windows, a single grille decklid, and twin central exhaust outlets. It rides on 15” 356 alloy wheels featuring chrome-finished hubcaps with Porsche crests and a new set of High-Speed Radial tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the interior features Cashmere Sport Seats with matching CocoMats floor mats. It includes amenities such as an optional under-dash air conditioning system, power windows, a three-spoke Nardi wood steering wheel, and an upgraded vintage AM/FM/iPOD radio system. The dashboard features an array of VDO gauges, including a 6k-rpm tachometer and 130-mph speedometer. Additionally, it comes equipped with a fire extinguisher, and all gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly.

Power is derived from a Volkswagen air-cooled 1776cc 4-cylinder boxer engine with dual down-draft carburetors, mated to a 4-speed close ratio manual transmission. It features independent front and rear suspension, and braking power is facilitated by four-wheel discs. The seller mentions that an engine service has recently been carried out in preparation for the sale.

This sale will include a fire extinguisher and a clean title (lien) with the vehicle listed as a 1968 Volkswagen.

The seller would like you to know: “Only these steel frame replica cars will pass the renown Jack Test which the original replicas would fail due to body flex. For over 25 years JPS Motorsports has been building award winning 356 speedsters and coupe replicas with now well over 400 satisfied customers around the world.

The car has a VW air cooled engine and the car has a 1968 VW title which represents the manufactured year of the original donor pan, with most insurance companies including Hagerty Classic Auto Insurance and Allstate and 'Heacock Classic' all covering these replicas, and whose contact information is listed on our Finance page on our website. These cars are smog exempt.

The striking 'Ruby Red' paint is in absolutely beautiful condition and the Camel interior is also in as new condition throughout with no signs of wear. Please note that as you will notice in the photos there is a small tear in the fabric covering the emergency parking brake which will be replaced prior to sale.

This particular model must be seen to be believed and driven to be fully appreciated - the car drives and looks as good as new - the engine is extremely strong and responsive with no oil leaks, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the temperature always remains cool. Drives virtually like a new car - you could never tell the difference!

You will look long and hard to find a finer example of this well respected JPS Motorsports built 1957 Porsche 356 1600 Super Coupe Replica for the ultimate in daily driving fun and ragtop summer cruising!”

Photos 86 to 89 show a facedown radiator like JPS installs in the Subaru. Is this for the AC as this is described as an air cooled car?

Have been out of town...6Just saw this listed. Yes I'm interested. Plenty of time left to bid if you can answer these questions prior sale end.

Is there anything that accounts for the gap seal, misalignment on the right door bottom left?

Like Scudderf, How well does the is the AC work on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being freeze you out?

How is the AC? Does it blow cold or cool? Does it sap a lot of power when on? I’ve got my wife onboard with this car because of the AC and I want to set expectations 😉. Subaru powered JPS cars have excellent AC but those cars are water cooled. Curious if you have experienced it. Gonna bid either way. Just curious what I’m getting into.
