A recreation of Porsche’s iconic 356A Speedster, this widebody replica was professionally built by JPS Motorsport in 2011 and features a 2.3-liter Type I Hi-Po flat-four engine paired with a Pro-Street Racing 4-speed manual transmission. It is finished in blue over tan upholstery along with a black tonneau and convertible soft top. Notable details include a flared “SC” body, rear “Carrera Turbo” badging, heated Connelly Leather bucket seats with racing harnesses, and a full nitrous system. Accompanied by extensive documentation and reported to have spent the majority of its life in California storage, this unique Speedster replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

This Speedster replica is finished in blue complemented with a black full canvas tonneau cover and matching convertible soft top. Exterior details include a flared “SC” body, driver and passenger Carrera-style side mirrors, polished hinges, halogen headlights with mesh stone guards, teardrop-style taillights, a front tow hook, rear “Carrera Turbo” badging, a louvered rear decklid, and a single exhaust outlet. It rides on polished 17” 5-spoke wheels with colored Porsche center caps that are dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires from 2012. The seller notes a blemish next to a windshield wiper blade. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior is upholstered in tan featuring heated Connelly Leather bucket seats with racing harnesses. Details include an ignition button, exterior color painted lower dashboard, “Porsche” badging on the passenger-side dash, dash-mounted stopwatches, a dash-mounted passenger grab handle, a polished double hoop roll bar, polished hinges, and an SS firewall kit. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This Speedster is equipped with a 2.3-liter Type I Hi-Po flat-four engine with a high-flow fan kit and a full nitrous system which is said to have been unused with stainless steel braided hoses. A Pro-Street Racing 4-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Additional mechanical features include an MSD ignition kit, a 10-gallon aluminum fuel cell with aluminum fuel lines, and Wildwood 4-piston brake calipers, pads, and brackets.

This sale will include a clean title for a 1969 Volkswagen and extensive documentation.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a unique JPS Motorsports custom creation featuring a powerful 2.3 liter Type I Hi-Po Engine paired with a Pro-Street Racing Transmission. Since it was built in 2011, this car has received meticulous attention and care being stored in a climate-controlled garage most of its life.”

    @Bigbee Hi Bigbee

    that is all absolutely correct, JPS does a phenomenal job building these vehicles to as good as or better than factory.

    We did upload full documentation but I don’t see it represented in the photos.

    I have posted a few photos of the documents and of both folders filled with documentation surrounding the build and maintenance of this vehicle since it was built.

    JPS is a solid replica builder. Unlike Vintage and Beck they made the wide body “outlaw” style regularly.

    Too bad the seller didn’t get the prose to match the pictures. The pictures show a solid build but the prose neglects to tell what the “extensive documentation” of the build includes. It has a fuel cell gas tank, four wheel disc brakes, an updated trailing arm rear suspension among other things the picture shows. This runs nicely in the drive video and doesn’t have the lumpiness of a race engine tune. The tires and belts are aged out and need a refresh for safety. At the right price this is a lot of car with just a few needs. It will need the windshield wipers reattached for a safety inspection when being registered in most states.

    What kind of sick person would put a turbo badging on this car. The Carrera is wrong but I can forgive that....somewhat.

    @TheShopClubs - The seller notes a blemish next to a windshield wiper blade. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

    What photo number shows the blemish? Can you do a close up of the blemish? Are there any other paint chips, road rash, scratches, dents or paint stress on the car?

    @jimdemar Hi Jim,

    There hasn’t been a dyno run on this vehicle but the power output should land around 120hp.

  • jimdemar 8 monthsago

    I realize that it is not critical when considering a vehicle such as this one, but do we have any HP and/or Torque figures for this "turbo charged" example? Thanks in advance. GLWA...
