A recreation of Porsche’s iconic 356A Speedster, this replica was professionally built by Vintage Speedsters of Hawaiian Gardens, CA in 2003 and derives power from an air-cooled 1600cc VW engine featuring dual carburetors and electronic ignition. It remained registered in the state of California while under the care of its original owner in New York and was then sold to a friend in Pennsylvania in 2007 at 5,498 miles who drove the car sparingly until the seller’s acquisition in 2022. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this quality Speedster replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania with approximately 16k miles on the odometer.
The handcrafted fiberglass bodywork is laid over a custom steel frame paired with a 1974 Volkswagen chassis. The exterior is finished in a shade comparable to Porsche’s classic Condor Yellow paint color of the early 1960s. A blue convertible top is stored beneath a matching canvas tonneau cover. Accessories include teardrop-style taillights, chrome brightwork, dual polished mirrors, quad exhaust outlets, gold 1600 Speedster badging, headlight guards, removable side windows, and a chrome luggage rack with a wicker picnic basket. It rides on 15” slotted steel wheels with chromed hubcaps and a matching full-size spare mounted in the trunk. The seller notes the underside of the rear bumper was refinished to address a scrape and the exterior remains in very good condition overall.
The cabin is lined with dark blue German square weave carpeting and tan leather upholstery covering the seats, door panels, and dashboard. Accessories include custom Speedster-embroidered floor mats, a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, vintage-style gauges, a Speedshift gear knob, and a sound system. The seller notes the righthand turn signal does not stay on and the trip odometer occasionally sticks. Some wear is also noted on the carpet near the clutch pedal.
An air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four VW engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. Mechanical features include dual carburetors, electronic ignition, and front disc brakes. Service under the current ownership included an oil change and leak repair in August 2022 as well as an inspection and rear drum brake service in April 2023.
This sale will include the clean title for a 1974 Volkswagen and some documentation.

The car was made Vintage Speedstersof Hawaiian Gardens, CA in 2009, I believe that they use new motors. the condition of the motor is excellent I have no reason to do any testing on it and the mech ne er sugested any.

Side curtains when you have the top up. The other windows are cruxzin windows when you are out cruz in around and don't want the wind coming in or your girl down't want her hair messed you use them they fit in the same holes as the side curtains.

Another thing was to put a sheet metal protector over the edge of the carpet to prevent further ware. When driving I lay my foot aginst that edge, most drivers do, (some ride the clutch), its an easy fix to save your carpet.
from the time that I purchased the I changed oil, had a tune-up a couple state inspections. I told the mech that I felt the brakes were soft he checked and found a seized brake cylinder on the rear brake he changed that. that as the only thing other than routine maintenance the car starts right up and runs well nice and straight . the turn signal sometimes won't stay on I am having the car inspected and will have the mech work on it. Does your description indicate that since you acquired the car in 2022 that you have put around 8K miles on it in a couple of years? Did the car require anything other than routine maintenance in your time of ownership?

Hi everybody, in 2021 I saw this Speedster on display at the Philadelphia Car Show, I always wanted a 1960’s Porsche 356, so I bought it. It’s a great car, have a lot of fun driving around, going to Car Shows and Cars & Coffee, car never gave me any trouble. Always took the car out to drive and exercise at least every 3 weeks, only on dry days.
This Speedster is a fun driver and a great classic, but it was a (Bucket list Item) and at 87 its time to let go.
