Available for auction is a 1957 SILA Bimbo Racer V12. The SILA Bimbo Racer was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, built in Turin, Italy, and distributed in North America by Ferrari, Inc. of South San Francisco. It was designed to resemble the Ferrari 375mm and recently underwent a thorough restoration in 2021, just before being acquired by the current owner in 2023.

During the restoration, its reinforced fiberglass body was resprayed red and now houses a replacement electric motor propelling the rear axle with a chain drive. The steel wheels wear SILA-branded chrome faux-wire covers with spinner-style centers  shoed in replacement 13×2½” Pirelli pneumatic tires with tubes. (The original tires will be included with purchase).

Also during the refurbishment, a new electric motor was installed behind the seat, accompanied by a battery. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a chain drive system that can be engaged for reverse operation when needed.

The fiberglass body worked is adorned with faux hood scoops, chrome work, and various emblems. The seller states the chrome work was re-plated by Nassau Chrome Plating of Minneola, New York during the restoration in 2021. Various features include; a bench seat, side panels trimmed in leather, rear drum brakes, a mechanical parking brake, working taillights and headlights, faux-wire wheels, a windscreen, and a black rubber floor mat.

Inside the cockpit, a bench seat has been reupholstered with beige leather with matching side panels. The steering wheel, slightly bent with a repaired crack above the left spoke, presides over a dashboard housing an ignition switch. On the floor, you'll find gear shift and parking brake levers, along with an aftermarket pedal. The factory accelerator and brake pedals are securely mounted through the firewall for optimal control and safety.

The kart measures approximately 66” inches long, 29” inches wide and 23” inches tall. The seller states all factory literature, refurbishment records, a helmet and goggles, a battery charger, tires and parts removed during the refurbishment will be included with the sale. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees.

@chronomobilia beautiful car and nice upgrades! Wish it was 10x less costly as I would get a couple for my future grandkids!

@celsobarison - they have been uploaded. The steering wheel works and the split can be fixed for sure, but they have always been very fragile.

Possible to get pictures of electrical motor and battery?
Is the steering wheel working and can be fixed?
