It is our pleasure to present this award-winning 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe finished in Carmen Red over a black leather interior. Between 2011 and 2013, this Drophead Coupe underwent a Concours-level restoration including a bare-metal repaint, a reupholstered interior, installation of an air conditioning system, conversion to 12-volt power, new wire wheels, and a new burl wood dash panel. This 1959 example scored 999.5/1000 at the 2019 Jaguar Club North America Concours, and won Best of Class. Accompanied by a copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certification, a binder documenting the restoration process, a complete tool roll, and owner’s manuals, this XK150 shows just 5,684 miles on the odometer and is being offered at auction by the seller out of New York.

This Jaguar was stripped down to bare metal during its restoration and repainted in its original color of Carmen Red (303). A binder included with the sale chronicles the restoration from start to finish including photos. The seller reports the vehicle has been well documented on XKdata.com, the foremost registry for these models, and was said to be in excellent condition even before the restoration. Exterior equipment includes a black convertible soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, bumper-mounted driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, fender vents, chrome trim, Jaguar-branded headlights with chrome rings, Jaguar XK150 badging on the grille and trunk lid, and a single polished exhaust tip. This Drophead Coupe rides on chrome 16” wire wheels with dual-eared knock-offs, which are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

The interior of this XK150 has been reupholstered during the restoration process in black leather with red piping, including matching door panels, interior trim and black carpeting. Details include a drivers side green fabric-trimmed storage box, a locking glove box also trimmed with green fabric, a wood-rimmed 15” Moto-Lita steering wheel, a Classic Air air-conditioning system, a heater, roll-up windows, Smith instrumentation, a wood shift lever with Jaguar badging, a chromed parking brake handle, an upholstered headliner, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror. The seller reports the installation of a new burl wood dashboard panel, and the original panel is said to accompany the sale. The odometer is believed to have rolled over, and the true mileage is unknown.

The XK150 is powered by a 3.4L inline-six with dual overhead camshafts, dual SU HD6 carburetors, and a modified B-type cylinder head with larger exhaust valves, factory rated at 210 HP which is sent to rear wheels by a 4-speed manual gearbox. During the restoration, an electric cooling fan was installed in addition to the conversion to a 12-volt negative-ground electrical system, a Classic Air air-conditioning system ($25k), and the replacement of the clutch cylinders. The stamping on the cylinder heads reads V6232-8, which identifies this engine as original to the vehicle, as shown on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a binder documenting the restoration process, a copy of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, the original dash panel, and a complete tool roll.

    Hello Bidders,
As you know, my company Cooper Classics has been in business 43 years and our specialty used to be the sale and total restoration of XK Jaguars. As a matter of fact we were the only classic car facility at the New York Auto Show for many years, and in 1989 we presented 12 XK Jaguars that we restored. We are including the Concours Judging sheets which shows you on the front page that it scored 999.5/1000. This was done as recently as October 2019, which is only a couple of years old. When we got the car we sent it to one of the finest XK mechanics at Briarcliff Classics to go through it and make sure that it drove as it should. I am sure that if anyone has any questions you are welcome to call him about any mechanical questions you may have. I am posting this to give you additional confidence that this is the real deal and I am sure that if you were to have all the work done to this car in 2022 it would probably cost you close to $200,000.
