This 1959 Porsche 356A Sunroof Coupe is said to have been restored about 12 years ago including a bare-metal repaint, custom bumpers, upgraded suspension, a reupholstered interior, and dual-carbureted motor sourced from a Pre-A model. Cared for by its prior owner for nearly 20 years, this 356 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Southern California.

This Sunroof Coupe was stripped to bare metal and refinished in the current bright yellow paint color over 10 years ago. All of the brightwork is said to have been re-plated at this time along with the installation of new weatherstripping. The car has been fitted with a set of custom chrome bumpers, front driving lights, chrome headlight guards, leather hood straps, and a louvered rear decklid. The 15” wheels have been refinished and come dressed in a set of tires dated from 2015.  A small blister is depicted at the bottom of the passenger door, and the bottom of the door itself is shown to be misaligned from the body, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been reupholstered in tan leather with matching square weave carpeting and a perforated leather headliner.  Accessories include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, white-faced instrument dials, Speedster-style bucket seats, Coco floor mats, and a period-style radio with speakers mounted in the footwells.

Power comes from a dual-carbureted 1,500cc flat-four engine derived from a Pre-A 1954 example. The engine has been fitted with an upgraded Dansk muffler and paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Over $4,500 worth of service was completed earlier in 2022 including rebuilds of the carburetors and mechanical fuel pump as well as installation of a new fuel tank, fuel filter, sending unit, electric pump, hose, and cap.

This sale will include a clean title and some records.

Aaron, it looks to be a c engine with the tall oil tank on the right side. Not to mention the late b/c engine tin. Regardless, great looking outlaw, with a sunroof! Great to see another SoCal 356 up here. How’s dad? He still driving that 550 Maranello and living on Wilshire?
