Produced between 1957 and 1960, only 400 units of the Porsche-Diesel Junior 108S Vineyard are said to have been assembled. One of just 244 units built within the second year of production, this 108S was imported to the U.S. by the Viking Equipment Company of Seattle, Washington, after careful review of its Porsche OEM parts purchased from the original American Porsche-Diesel Corportation. Powered by an air-cooled 822cc diesel engine, the 108S became most popular with wineries across Europe for its specialized narrow-gauge construction including a rare manually adjustable harrow. This 1959 example is said to have been formerly owned by the general manager of a Porsche dealer in Denver, Colorado. Upon the seller’s acquisition in January 2016, this historic tractor was brought to the specialist Sal Fanelli of Porsche-Diesel USA for a complete restoration which spanned 3 years. Refinished in Carmine Red, this award-winning Junior 108S Vineyard is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia accompanied by a Porsche-Diesel Certificate of Authenticity.

The width of the Junior 108S can be manually adjusted to 116cm or reduced to 66cm. Features include headlights, taillights, chrome badging, a black-finished steering wheel, and 16”/24” wheels with new BKT tires. Restored by a well-known marque specialist in Virginia, this example was completely refinished in the traditional combination of Carmine Red (RAL 3002) with a Creamy Yellow (RAL 1014) seat and wheels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, and the seller adds that all gauges and accessories are working properly.

An air-cooled single-cylinder 822cc diesel engine produces 14 HP at 2250 RPM and is paired with a dual-range 3-epicyclic 3-speed transmission with high and low ranges. The seller adds that the motor and electrical system was completely rebuilt by the expert hands of Sal Fanelli, Porsche Diesel USA.

This tractor is offered with a bill of sale and owner's literature.

The seller would like you to know: “This tractor belongs in a museum or in someones Porsche collection. I actually have another Porsche Diesel tractor, a 1959 308, 3 cylinder Super. I have a farm, and use it there. I have struggled with the idea of selling my vineyard because of its rarity, but it spends most of its time in my garage, under a cover. It needs to be seen! The new owner will not be disappointed. It is as good as it gets!”

Beautiful tractor… and extremely rare .. we are fortunate enough to have the first Vineyard sold in the US. It was originally sold to Barnhill Blueberries in Ivanhoe NC…they purchased 2 tractors one was delivered assembled (our tractor) and one was delivered in its original shipping crate..so the story goes the one in the crate was never assembled and we believe was sold with a lot of other items from the farm.. that tractor has never surfaced and either was scrapped or the crate is sitting in a shed somewhere in the Carolinas. With your tractor and Sal’s Vineyard this would make a total of only 4 known in the US. These Vineyard are just about maintenance free and are equal in value to a 356 to tractor collector… A true crown to a Porsche collection…

@FNMAG58 That is correct. As far as we know, there were 12 imported to the US market. A portion of those went to a blueberry farm operation in North Carolina I am told. Don't know where they ended up. This one was imported to the West Coast...Seattle, Washington based on research by Porsche Diesel, USA.
Of the 1000 or so Porsche Diesel tractors imported for the North American market, quite a few were Juniors, but very few "Vineyards". One of the rarest Porsche Diesel tractors.

@JWinstead Hi John, Thank you for your interest...small world! To be honest, I'm new to the auction scene, and need to find out how to arrange an inspection, etc. I will check with PcarMARKET tomorrow to figure this out. I will communicate with you after that.
Thank you for reaching out! If you were at the Speed and Style show, you know there were thousands of kids and people, lots of fun....I wish you had said hello....Hope to communicate soon. By the way, I have a farm too...and another Porsche tractor I keep there....for fun!

@Brendan I would love the opportunity to discuss your tractor. I saw it in Old Town and wanted to discuss it, but had three little ones with me. We live in North Ridge and would use this at our farm for fun. Thanks!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to look at my 1959 Porsche Diesel 108S "Vineyard" tractor. A hard decision to make to let this tractor go. It is my hope that whomever the new owner is, that they will have more opportunities to show it than I do/did. It draws a crowd, and it's not a stretch to say it steals the show!
I am happy to answer any questions that you may have, so feel free to reach out. Best of luck!
    Brendan
