Making its debut in 1954 at the Turin Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was penned by the renowned Italian design house, Bertone. Having undergone a professional restoration throughout 2019, this 1960 Giulietta Sprint has been refinished in Tornado Blue over a reupholstered black interior. Additionally, the engine displacement has been upgraded to 1.6 liters along with a host of mechanical refreshments. Purchased from Hyman Motorcars Ltd. in 2015, this classic Alfa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

Refinished in Tornado Blue, this Sprint's body was also professionally restored. Refurbishment efforts in 2019 included all-new rubber, chroming of the bumpers, grills, bezels, door & window frames, emblems, and exterior door handles. New weatherstripping was also fitted. Equipment includes squared front mesh grilles, a center Alfa shield, rounded headlamps, and Bertone fender badging. 15” steel wheels include chrome hubcaps on the passenger side however, hubcaps are not present on the driver’s side. The seller notes small imperfections from freeway use. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings.

Inside, this Giulietta features a black leather interior that was redone in 2019 by CA Auto Upholstery. Additionally in 2019, the car was fitted with new interior door handles, window cranks, and a new rubber floor. The blue-finished dashboard houses a locking glovebox, lighting and ventilation switches, and radio controls. Additional equipment includes a 3-spoke steering wheel, a choke control knob, blue seat belts, new black carpet, Alfa-branded pedals, a 5-digit odometer which has rolled over, and Bertone-branded door sills. The seller notes all gauges and electronics to be working as intended and reports no illuminated warning lights.

This Alfa is powered by an inline-four engine modified to a 1.6-liter displacement. It has also been upgraded to Veloce-specification including dual Weber 40DCOEs, sending power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with added overdrive. Recent maintenance includes a full tune-up with a valve adjustment, rebuilt carburetors, new ignition, and some electrical repairs. Additional servicing includes a fuel tank cleaning and dip, new motor mounts, new radiator support, a new air intake hose, and an oil service. The 4-wheel disc brakes benefitted from a new brake master cylinder, pedal assembly rebuild, and brake bleed.

This sale will include a spare tire, a battery charger, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Giulietta finished in rare Tornado Blue. Only 6 were brought into the US in this color. Body and paint by Ruben Garza. Finishing touches by Nick Alexander in Los Angeles. All-new rubber. The stainless trim was all removed during paint and polished, as well as the chrome and gold script. The car features a fresh interior with full leather done by CA Auto Upholstery. Veloce specs with Fresh 1600cc motor with dual Weber 40DCOEs, upgraded to a 5-speed manual transmission with 4-wheel disc brakes. Current owner since 2015. Purchased from Hyman Motorcars. Won’t see these often, and they are such a blast to buzz around. Very small footprint in the garage, but easily fits a 6'4" driver. The car comes from a small collection of rare cars that were always maintained properly and ready to drive at a moment’s notice. This Italian gem was driven from Palm Springs to San Clemente last week without any issues whatsoever. Sounds awesome and turns heads everywhere. Easy to drive and tons of fun!”

Interesting that you have a splined shaft to make minute adjustments. All of my 7 Alfas, 750, 105, and 101 series have a single keyway with no adjustment other than adjustment of the tie rod ends. Thank you.

  • MountainWave (seller) 1 monthago

@millstoneman I just removed steering wheel and indexed over 2 teeth, and it now sits perfect. The car is aligned properly. I am 6'4 and have 13 wide foot, so I drive most imports with three pedals in my socks! Thx for the inquiry

  • roblee 1 monthago

@millstoneman , no needs the steering wheel clocked, alignment is fine.

  • millstoneman (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Needs a front-end alignment to straighten out the steering wheel. Nice car, and nice socks buddy! I say this because I always drive my Alfas with my shoes off to actually feel the pedals and gives an extra 3/4 inch reach.

@Havenhearth upgraded to the larger 1600cc motor and Webers. The 5 speed is also a nice addition making freeway cruising very efficient. The wheels are steel, professionally painted with metallic silver and clear. Thx

@Somer the door hinges have an integrated stop mechanism. The door straps were not needed, but obviously added easily if next owner desires. I found several online. Thx.

  • Havenhearth (registered bidder) 1 monthago

    Hello,

    A couple of questions, please:

Was this originally a Sprint model or are the Webers added ‘after the fact’? ( they will still make the song of driving just as sweet… )

Can’t tell from the photo: are the wheels steel or aluminum?

    It’s a Very comely ride.

Thank you in advance for your time and your assistance.

    Good luck with the listing.

    Cheers,

    David / Havenhearth

  • MountainWave (seller) 1 monthago

@gh356 the body and paint was done in 2019. It was a clean example to begin with. I will try to track down additional photos. Thx for the inquiry.

Ment to write " bid with confidence"

  • roblee 1 monthago

I have driven and inspected this example two weeks ago, Fabulous!! Is the word that comes to mind. One of the best if not the best I have seen and driven in years, but with confidence...it's out standing!!

  • gh356 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

What was the rust situation prior to the paint work, and how old is the paint job?

  • Somer 1 monthago

  • MountainWave (seller) 1 monthago

@Somer that spot in #18 is only seen from below, I wanted to include in the gallery. I never got around to touching it up. Not sure what it's from, an odd place for abrasion. Best guess is something on the floor of garage made contact when parking. The dash paint isn't perfect, I tried to capture it fully in the gallery. I will be at the car later today to check the door straps but I don't recall a need for them, the doors have limited swing without the straps. I will confirm on those items and report back. Thx for the inquiry.

  • Somer (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Are the door limiters missing on both sides?

  • Somer (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I see some paint deterioration in #18 and around the glove box. Any other areas ?

  • MountainWave (seller) 1 monthago

@Sbaldwin69 very easy. There are plenty of original sets avail on Ebay, including a perfectly matching set of 5 for $250. Alternatively, there are reproductions available from multiple suppliers.

  • Sbaldwin69. (registered bidder) 1 monthago

How hard are the missing hub caps to replace?

This is my first PCar Market listing and I will do my best to answer any questions. I sent a cold start video and it should be uploaded soon I imagine. Very dependable and an absolute blast to drive. Thx!
