The Austin Mini gained recognition for its innovative design which influenced the development of future compact cars with its traverse engine layout, front-wheel drive system, and space-saving suspension. This 1960 Austin Mini comes finished in red with a Union Jack painted roof and has been upgraded with a 1,275cc Austin engine along with a host of additional modifications including a ported intake, a Stromberg carburetor, race-tuned exhaust system. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This example comes finished in red and decorated with a British flag-painted roof. Details include front sliding windows, rear pop-out windows, chrome-finished grille & headlight bezels, and black-finished fender flares. Anti-chip headlight protectors, Lucas rally fog lights, and chrome exhaust tips have been added under the previous ownership. It rides on 10” alloy wheels with Yokohama AdvanHF A-800 tires from 2015. The seller adds that the hood clips have been modified to open the front as a single piece and this example was used under previous ownership for regularity rally racing. Minor paint imperfections are noted on the front clip area and additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents aftermarket red leather bucket seats along with grey cloth upholstery and door inserts. The red-finished dashboard is contrasted with black-finished central instrumentation and a black leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This Mini is said to have been upgraded with a 1,275cc four-cylinder Austin engine, generating power to the front wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that a host of modifications were installed under previous ownership including a Mini spares ported intake, race exhaust manifold, complete race-tuned exhaust, Stromberg carburetor, an oil cooler radiator, gas shocks (14pts regulation), disc brakes, a cut-out switch, and a new battery. Additionally, the seller states the current owner has installed a new starter, alternator, and brakes. There are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an incredibly good-looking and fun-to-drive Mini. It has all the looks and all the best upgrades, being the main one the 1275cc engine. Also, the right-hand drive gives it a very fun and unique experience. A complete head-turner wherever you go!”

I'd like to see photos of the rocker panels, the sheet metal behind the front wheels (can pull up the carpet) and under the car. Says it was rally raced? Are the holes still present from the roll bar or was it cut out at some point?

@Manpot I'm far to be an expert but my two cents here, please note the front clip is just the outer ''skin'' on the front of the car. Both fenders and the hood were replaced by a one-piece fiberglass front clip. Under that part, all the structure of the car is completely original. I hope this comment helps a little

@M3BUM Due diligence is more than welcome!
There are no signs of rust anywhere around the car, undercarriage is completely solid with no rust at all.
I'm working to have a car on a lift and add undercarriage pictures asap

I 'd like to hear expert comment re the one piece hood and fenders. I remember some saying this conversion affected the structural rigidy of the car.Comments??

@Manpot The wording has been addressed, thank you.

The Mini was not a hatchback. A few were modified by Radford but that's just a handful.

@MiamiGarageClassics Car looks super clean and shows very well. I just have to do my due diligence and ask if there are any rust at all on the car?
