Derived from the legendary 300SL Roadster, the Mercedes-Benz 190SL made its debut at the 1954 New York Auto Show featuring similar styling, suspension, and engineering. It also introduced a new 1.9-liter inline-four engine based on the 300SL's straight-six. This 1961 Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster comes finished in white over black leather upholstery and underwent a cosmetic and mechanical restoration which exceeded a cost of $15k. This iconic Mercedes-Benz is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The 190SL shares its basic styling with the 300SL Roadster including its distinctive fender flares, bumper design, and single-bar front grille with a central Mercedes-Benz emblem. This example is said to have been refinished in its factory-specified shade of White (DB050) and features a black convertible soft top. It rides on 15” chrome wheels with paint-matched Mercedes-Benz emblemized hubcaps and white wall tires from 2020. The tires are said to have been used for approximately 500 miles. Minor imperfections are noted and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features black leather bucket seats and matching black carpets. A white-finished two-spoke steering wheel is mounted ahead of a body-colored dash fascia which features analog VDO instrumentation, a clock, heater controls, and a Becker AM/FM radio. The seller states the cabin was previously reupholstered and notes some slight signs of wear. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Power comes from a type M121 BII 1.9-liter SOHC inline-four carbureted engine based on the 300SL's straight-six. This engine was factory-rated at 104 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a synchronized 4-speed manual gearbox. Other mechanical features include four-wheel drum brakes and a fully independent suspension derived from the 300SL. The seller adds that a mechanical restoration was carried out approximately 15 years ago and new Weber carburetors were installed in 2021. The original Solex carburetors will accompany the sale along with a collection of service invocies.

This sale includes a clean title, the owner's manuals, a toolkit, and the original Solex carburetors with hardware.

@gfcollins, We do have the serivice records since 2012 that was submitted to Pcarmarket. During the 4 previously here, we have for about $18,000 including new Weber carbs, new fuel lines, new hardware, radio serviced...

the front left fender has a paint chip over the chrome. The frame presents no rust.
if you message your phone number, I would be happy to send you some addition pictures

    sincerely,

@PalmBeachClassics Great presentation. She's a beauty! A few questions... I assume there are no maintenance records to share (other than the few restoration pictures)? No sense of any engine or transmission rebuilds? Any details of the "mechanical restoration" 15 years ago? I see some "minor imperfections" as mentioned in the description in the paint, under bonnet and boot... any other areas you would point me to? I'm told that the frames of these cars were particularly susceptible to corrosion and failure. Appreciate the underbody pics, but few shots of the frame. Can you comment on the soundness of the frame? Appreciate any additional information you could provide. GLWA!

One of my favorite cars and the only car I ever sold that I actually regret selling. Yours is beautiful same color the underside pictures are well done. Why did they take the Solexs off and put the webers on? I installed an electric fuel pump on mine really helped especially on start up. GLWTA
