Available for auction is this 1959 Porsche-Diesel Super 308 tractor. The 308 Super was situated just below the larger and more powerful Master 409 in Porsche’s tractor model range and featured a three-cylinder 2,467cc air-cooled diesel engine producing up to 38 HP. This 1961 example was acquired by the seller in 2019 following the Rennsport Reunion event where it placed 2nd in a tractor race with Porsche Motorsport driver Patrick Pilet behind the wheel. Since then, this tractor has undergone a full cosmetic restoration over the course of two years and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
During the restoration, this Super 308 was refinished in its traditional red paint color and fitted with new headlights, taillights, reflectors, and badging. It rides on a set of painted steel wheels dressed in Firestone tractor tires. The seating area has also been restored with a new dash panel, side seat brackets, starter switch, horn, and steering wheel.
Power comes from an air-cooled three-cylinder 2,467cc diesel engine, which produced up to 38 HP when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a manual gearbox with five forward gears and one reverse. Porsche's tractors featured a unique hydraulic coupling between engine and gearbox providing smooth clutch-less gear changes while reducing wear on the transmission components. The restoration included the installation of a new wiring loom, glow plugs, speedometer cable, oil pressure switch, and fuse block.
This nicely sorted Super 308 makes a fine complement to any collection, do not miss your chance to own an important piece of Porsche history.

Good luck I hope you end up with it. I have another one and it was very hard to get shipped or I prob would have bid a little more. I have had Jr's, a standard but my super is my favorite.

Bring it on Guys! These Tractors are Awesome!! I bought a ‘108 S
(Single cylinder diesel) a few months ago , and we use it for Porsche Club events here in Dallas. I think it gets more attention than the 992’s or other ‘killer good’ Porsche vehicles! ?
Whoever wins this Big Boy won’t regret it….of course my Little Dorothea (Ferry Porsche’s Wife) will kick your butt in ‘the twisties.’

Hi there, owner here adding a little more info. The mechanicals on this tractor were in excellent shape when we got it but we did everything possible to make it better which meant new modern injectors and a all new electrical system, wiring and gauges. We were in close contact with Sal for Porsche-Diesel to guide use through what to buy and what to use, I don't think anyone knows more about Porsche-Diesel tractors than Sal. Sorry about the year issue, I did not pick that up when Sal had sourced the correct year. This is a stunning example with a pretty cool story of Rennsport podium with an international Porsche driver.

Hello all, sorry for the delay. To clarify, the Super was sold to us as a 1961, so we assumed that is what it was. We had a Porsche-Diesel expert go through the tractor and run the ID numbers throughout the tractor, and discovered it is indeed a 1959. The ID card on the tractor has the correct information.
As for the refreshment, the motor was refreshed over the last 6 months after most of the cosmetic work was done. It runs phenomenal.

is the engine the original one?
Gosh where do I start my comments… tons of discrepancies between the written descriptions and the Pictures submitted…
Was the engine refreshed or serviced with the restoration? Does it run and drive? Any videos?
