Carrying Porsche’s race-inspired engineering and performance capabilities, the 356B debuted with revised styling cues and a wider range of more powerful engine options when compared to its predecessor. Finished in black over a matching interior, this numbers-matching 1961 Porsche 356B T5 Cabriolet is said to have been purchased by its owner from Wayne Carini of F40 Motorsports and is now being offered for auction out of New York.

This 356B Cabriolet was initially in ordered in Ruby Red and has since been refinished in black with a matching soft top. Chrome brightwork can be found along the exterior, and the steel wheels come dressed in Cooper tires. Revisions of this model compared to the 356A included raised headlights, re-contoured and raised front and rear bumpers, and brake-cooling intakes below the front nose. The seller notes a minor paint imperfection on the front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features black leatherette upholstery, a black-finished three-spoke steering wheel, and a matching dashboard accented with chrome trim pieces. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly with the exception of the original radio.

The 356B equips a 1600cc flat-four engine that sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. Improved equipment for the 356B compared to its predecessor included new cast-aluminum Alfin brake drums with iron liners, and improved sealing to direct water away from the brakes. Images of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and matching drivetrain case stampings can be found in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title.

No the car has not been in an accident that I'm aware of, Unfortunately I am out of town and cannot take any additional pictures.

Hello, can you please show a photo of the VIN and the underbody. The front panel where the spare wheel sits looks very dented. Was there an accident here and can you say whether the vehicle is accident-free? Please also take a photo from the inside without the spare wheel.

@Archiem440 No, I purchased the car fully restored from them for my wife, I don't know who did the restoration.

  • Slip356 1 yearago

Twin grills in the deck lid would be a T-6, 62 or later. This is a T-5.

    Did F40 do the restoration?

  • PCARMARKET_MODERATOR 1 yearago

The listing has been updated to reflect the car's numbers-matching drivetrain and Porsche COA.

  • Earthgirl426 1 yearago

I used to have the exact same car; however, mine had two grills on the rear lid. Is your’s a T-5?
