We are pleased to present this 1961 Porsche 356 Notchback Outlaw built by Emory Motorsports.  Created as a competitive vintage racecar by outlaw builder, Rod Emory, this car has set multiple track records during competition.  Although built for a client, Rod was asked to race it on his client's behalf and did so for several years.  Rod claims that this car ended up being the quickest on the track at almost every event he attended.  Currently configured to drive on the street or the track, the seller states that this setup can easily be reconfigured to cater strictly to street driving.  Said to be one of Rod’s favorite builds, this car presents a raw and visceral air-cooled driving experience that is hard to match.

In 2004, Emory Motorsports commissioned a “no-expense” project in which the goal was to create the fastest Notchback coupe around the track.  According to Rod, this was a major success.  Between the iconic aerodynamic design of the 356 Notchback coupe along with a few key vehicle upgrades, this car is is sure to impress anyone who enters the cockpit.  An aluminum hood, louvered rear deck-lid, bumper-delete, re-enforced front spindle, adjustable QA1 shocks, and Mahle Gas Burner lightweight alloy wheels all allow for a lighter, more agile 356.

Finished in Burnt Orange, this 356 presents very well with minimal flaws showing on the exterior.  Cream-colored meatballs with “41” decals have been implemented on the car.

Inside, you will find a purposeful minimalist interior that was built to a high standard.  The Sparco Evo II seats, Nardi leather detachable steering wheel, and Lexan windows help keep true to the light-weight theme of this vintage racer.  Additionally, the integrated roll cage has been tied into the vehicle's body in efforts to save even more weight.

Power comes from a bulletproof 1620cc Porsche engine that was built by Ecurie Engineering.  It features an NOS case, Scott Billet crankshaft, Carillo Rods, Elgin full race cam, Escure pistons and heads with a 12:1 compression ratio, Solex 40P11 Carbs, 180mm lightened flywheel with Kennedy clutch, a fresh top-end with new rings and a competitive valve job.  The transaxle is a 741/2 with a GT Limited Slip and close ratio gears.  It also is fitted with a dual master cylinder and low-mounted fuel cell tank.  The seller notes that an additional transmission will be included with the sale.

Rarely does an opportunity such as this emerge.  Don't miss your opportunity to own this uniquely built and incredibly rare Notchback coupe.

@ChrisA The car is on a California title. I do have some recent receipts. I will be posting additional photos and a video as soon as possible. I'd be glad to help with shipping. The car is currently in Southern California. Where would you be shipping it to?

  • ChrisA (registered bidder) 4 years, 6 monthsago

Does the cars have a title or will this be a bill of sale? Do you have any service history for recent work done? (brakes, engine, trans, rebuilds/hours etc.)
Will you assist with shipping at your end & what is the zip code for shipping?
    Thanks Chris

PLEASE NOTE..........The car is currently in Southern California.

  • DriverM (seller) 4 years, 6 monthsago

@TheRhys The car was originally built for someone in Seattle so the reference to Tully's could be correct. I spoke to Rod Emory about the car in detail and forgot if he mentioned that or not. He did mention that he loved driving it and was one of the fastest 356's at the time.

  • TheRhys (registered bidder) 4 years, 6 monthsago

I have seen this car in person many times and it was previously owned by a very quick racer who was often battling for first at our local Historics race. If I remember correctly the paint color choice had something to do with Tully’s coffee?

  • DriverM (seller) 4 years, 6 monthsago

I'm the seller and I'm available to answer any questions.........Thanks
