Introduced in 1962, the T6 variant marked the final iteration of the Porsche 356B. With structural and technical updates, Porsche commissioned Karmann, known for the Notchback Coupe, to produce the T6 Coupe bodywork. Acquired by the previous owner in 2021, this 1963 Porsche 356B 1600 Coupe subsequently underwent a meticulous three-year restoration, including a bare-metal refinish in factory-specified Heron Grey, a restored red interior, and a rebuilt 1600cc engine upgraded to Super 90 specifications. Accompanied by a host of service documentation, this well-presented example is now being offered for auction out of California.
This example’s Karmann bodywork has been stripped to bare metal and professionally refinished in its factory-specified shade of Heron Grey (6207). It rides on 15” slotted wheels with chrome Porsche-crested hubcaps and Hankook tires from 2022. Other details include chrome trim, a driver’s side mirror, front window vents, a twin-grille decklid, and dual exhaust outlets integrated within the rear bumperettes. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with photos of the restoration process.
The cabin is appointed with fresh red leatherette upholstery, spanning the seats, door panels, dashboard cover, and rear shelf. Matching carpets line the floors, and a body-colored dashboard houses VDO instrumentation, complemented by a wood-trimmed steering wheel and shifter knob. The seller states all gauges, electronics, and accessories have been newly replaced as part of the restoration, though the factory-correct radio is currently inoperable.
Beneath the decklid, the air-cooled 1600cc flat-four engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded to meet the more powerful Super 90 specification along with boring the engine, changing the camshaft, replacing the cylinder heads, and upgrading the ignition system. As much as 90 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states that service items have surpassed $20k in total, and accompanying invoices are provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This beautiful classic, professionally restored 1963 Porsche 356B needs absolutely nothing, except for a new owner to enjoy! Everything has been gone through and replaced- this is like a new car! It drives like a dream, shifts smoothly, and is mechanically sound. Thank you for looking at my auction!”

Any photos of the bare metal restoration process?
Clear California title?
Photo #70 show a Karmann manufacturing tag. What a GORGEOUS car!
@pcamarket it’s a beautiful car, but that’s not a Karmann coupe. The Karmann Coupe is affectionately known as the notchback. That’s a regular coupe. The Karmann is essentially a cabriolet with the optional hardtop welded on.
@1falco Hello @1falco. The '63 has drum brakes.
Please excuse my ignorance does the 63 have disc brakes?
Good day everyone! Thank you for having a look and bidding on this absolutely beautiful Porsche. All the best!
