We are pleased to present this 1963 Porsche 356B Coupe finished in Ruby Red over a black vinyl interior. This final-year example features T6 bodywork by Karmann and was imported to the United States where it was sold new in Southern California and remained with its original owner for 22 years.  A complete restoration was performed during the 1990s at approximately 70k miles at which time the engine was rebuilt and upgraded to a 1700cc displacement.  The car changed hands several times before it was acquired by the current owner's family in August of 2017.  Accompanied by an extensive collection of records and a thoroughly documented history of ownership, this classic 356B Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

The Karmann bodywork of this 356B came factory painted in Ruby Red and was completely refinished during a full restoration in 1992 by Del Norte Precision Auto of El Paso, Texas.  Refurbishment carried out during subsequent ownership includes new fog lamp grilles, headlights, badging, chrome Super hubcaps, and rubber trim pieces.  The car has been driven sparingly since the restoration and the seller reports no signs of collision or rust damage.  Some light scratches are noted throughout the exterior as well as a few paint imperfections on the hood, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The factory 15" wheels come dressed in a set of Michelin tires. The right rear hubcap shows to be missing its Porsche crest center cap and the seller confirms that the center cap will be replaced prior to sale.

Inside, the cabin has been restored with new carpeting, rubber floor mats, and black leatherette upholstery.  The original headliner remains in place and exhibits some fading and signs of wear.  A full 12-volt electrical conversion has been carried out and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio has been installed along with upgraded Alpine speakers, pre-amplifier, and an antenna.  Two extra VDO gauges have been carefully integrated into the dashboard on either side of the clock, displaying oil temperature and oil pressure. An aftermarket wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel has also been equipped along with a wooden shift knob and a switch to manually operate the electronic fuel pump.

During the initial restoration in 1992, the original air-cooled flat-four engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded to a 1700cc displacement using big bore pistons along with 356SC camshaft and cylinder heads. The Bursch exhaust was replaced at this time, as were the clutch cable, pressure plate, clutch disc, and throw-out bearing.  Upgraded Weber carburetors were installed the year prior to the restoration and were overhauled in January of 1996 along with the installation of a new voltage regulator and distributor points.  A detailed list of maintenance items addressed over the years is provided in the gallery with a history of ownership documenting all of the work carried out under each owner’s care.

This sale will include an assortment of spare parts, a spare tire, and a clean title.  A nicely sorted example of a classic Porsche 356, this 1963 Karmann Coupe is just waiting to be cherished by its next caretaker.

Hi folks, I was able to get by and get some more videos and pictures. Regarding the tires, they are the same tires we acquired the car with. Upon looking myself today, it could use new tires. Tons of tread but they’re old so factor that into your bidding.

Thanks kindly for the response. I look forward to seeing the videos. I fully understand the issue with getting a PPI. The car looks very nice. Best.

@urfealex Hi @urfealex, I'm open to a PPI but I'm concerned about it getting done before the acution ends. I have my 993 at the local shop we've always used now and they have a +30 day wait, Porsche of San Antonio is a 2-month wait because they have a very small shop as they're build a new facility. I'll work on the tires and driving videos, it will be Wednesday at the earliest though because I'm prepping for some meetings that are important to me tomorrow and the car is in storage about 25 minutes away from home. All electronics work. I mentioned this is my dads car, he bought it 5 years ago. He's a retired army helicopter pilot that hangered a Bell 47 at his house until he reached 70 this year and sold it. He's literally the most AR person I know, there's nothing that does not work.

Nice 356. Are all electricals and accessory motors in good order? Could you post a more substantial driving video going through the gears? Tire dates? Are you Open to a PPI? Many thanks.

Hello folks, my father bought this car about four years ago. Collectively we have owned 6 Pcars since 2012 - this one, an 82 Targa that sold here, a 997 C4S, a 2019 Pani, and currently a '96 911 and '21 Cayenne, both turbos.

This is a super cool car. It's not concourse quality, which I've personally liked because I do not stress over miles and being in traffic. It is a real head-turner though, is very well sorted, reliable, complete, and matching. We intended to keep it in the family, however dad recently sold his home with acerage and a hangar from when he still flew his helicopter to downsize now that he's in his 70's. I am building a new home but have the 2 and another vehicle already, so we've decided to part with it.

We are happy to answer any questions that we can about the car, good luck to any interested bidders and have a fabulous weekend.

    - Jason
