We are pleased to present this very unique 1963 356B Super 90 T6 for auction.  Rolling off the assembly line in Ivory paint over a red interior on November 13th 1962, this European Specification Super 90 was delivered to Rome before finding its way to California where it has been responsibly driven for several years.  This 356 sports some rugged Outlaw features, while remaining highly original and well-preserved, with both a Porsche Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity confirming its numbers matching engine and transmission.  This sensational 356 is being offered for auction in excellent running condition by the seller in Texas.

Painted in Maroon many years ago, the exterior has since been polished down to a smooth gloss, thus partially revealing the original Ivory paintwork and making for a unique, weathered look.  The roof is fitted with a period style luggage rack, pairing wonderfully with the complementary Suixtil driver accessories.  This 356 rides on its original, unrestored steel wheels which come wrapped in new Michelin XZX tires and are complete with original S90 hubcaps, correct valve stems, caps and clips.  Also, new teardrop taillights, gaskets and a reflector plug have been installed along with a Marchal fog light.  Boasting exceptional patina and lovely period correct accessories, this Super 90 makes the ultimate road rally machine.

Inside, this 356 retains its factory Ivory painted dashboard, which plays off of the exposed Ivory paint on the exterior.  This cabin features original European gauges, period Sears radio, and luggage straps as well as newly restored leather seats by GTS Classics.  The engine bay is very well-sorted and original in appearance, complete with correct decals and finishes as well as Weber carburetors breathing through correct mesh-type filters.  The driver’s manual and Porsche sleeve remain in the glovebox and the front trunk compartment is equipped with luggage liner, jack, spare tire assembly and leather strap.  2-point seat belts have been installed and all etched glass and trim appear remarkably original.

This 356 is incredibly dialed-in, still running strong and offering easy drivability thanks to regular maintenance and an intermediate service and multipoint inspection in the Fall of 2017.  This numbers matching Super 90 4-cylinder engine is equipped with freshly rebuilt Weber carburetors and passed a compression test at 135-140 psi per cylinder.  The undercarriage is extremely clean and solid with correct S90 suspension components.  A participant and finisher in the 2018 500-Mile Hill Country Raduno Classico Rally, this 356 performs very well and benefits from recent services including:

  • Sound Deadener Insulation on Gas Tank
  • New Shifter Coupler Bushings, Guide Ring Shaft Bushings, Gear Shift Lever Ball Socket, Spring Plate Bushing
  • Weber 40/44 IDF Mesh Air Cleaner
  • Oil/Filter Change, Carburetors Rebuilt and Dyno Tuned

Included in the sale of this one-of-a kind 356B Reutter coupe are original books and trunk accessories as well as complimentary Suixtil accessories.  As Porsche’s first production car and a major source of design inspiration for the following generations, the 356 has become an essential part of motoring history.

    To the seller I appreciate your comments and the compression test is very helpful. However, it was my understanding that a fairly tired Engine can run great and build decent compression numbers. Even indeed run quite a long time. But Leak down test shows the more subtle indicators of engine wear and what one would expect for engine life . Most of the Porsche guys I know like to get both compression test and leak down test . Just my observation. ..anyone interested in the subject research it or perhaps talk to their mechanic as I’m not an expert here. Maybe a knowledgeable mechanic will chime in ?
    I see a ton of potential in this car .

    @targabill pretty solid indeed!

  • DSFM-PORSCHES (seller) 4 years, 6 monthsago

    @Beckaircooled thank you for your inquiry. Since we have good and consistent compression in all cylinders we had no reason to conduct a compression test.

    Of note this 356 S90 performs great, benefits from much recent service and is a blast to drive!
