Up for auction is this 1963 Porsche 356B T6 Super 90 Coupe finished in Oslo Blue.  This 1963 example was placed in storage by its previous owner in Maryland during 1980 with the intent of carrying out restoration.  It had been partially disassembled when the project was abandoned, and the car remained in storage up until being recently discovered by the current owner.  This T6 Coupe was found to be highly original while retaining its desirable Oslo Blue finish.  It was then trailered back to the seller’s facility in Florida where it is now being offered for auction in as-is condition.  A true barn find, this 356B now offers the perfect basis for a restoration project.

This 356B is presented in its factory-specified color of Oslo Blue (6203).  Paint meter readings taken by the seller show consistent numbers throughout the body. The finish exhibits considerable amounts of patina, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  The sunroof on this Coupe is believed to have been equipped from the factory based on the presence of drainage holes near the rear corner windows.  An electric motor for the sunroof is also present which would have been a very unique option at the time.  This sale includes an assortment of exterior brightwork, rubber seals, and trim pieces.

The cabin features a painted dashboard, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and red leather front seats.  The headliner has been removed as well as most of the original red square weave carpeting.  The original red door panels will be included in the sale along with sun visors, carpet mats, and other interior components as shown in the photo gallery.

This 356B carries a Type 616/7 1600cc flat-four 90 HP engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox.  The engine case is stamped with #807035, which is the correct engine number for a 1963 356B T6 Coupe in this car’s serial number range.  Images of the drivetrain stampings are provided in the photo gallery along with many photos of the underside.  The seller reports that the engine is currently seized and that the car must be towed in order to be moved.

This sale will include a collection of parts and a clear title.  For any enthusiast looking to take on a restoration project, this Oslo Blue 356B barn find offers the perfect starting point.

My mechanic tells me to shoot the torsion tube from inside out one would have to take the car apart.
The tape on the sunroof was on it when I purchased the car. I did pull in back and take a picture to show what was under it. My guess is it holds the sunroof in place. the sunroof I'm sure does not work, and if you look at pictures 10/11 it shows the inside of the sunroof.
As to the rear window duck tape again it was on the car when I purchased it and am confident it's holding the window in place.

thank you for the photos and effort. can you show the torsion tubes from the inside looking out. what is the tape doing on the sunroof holding it in place? does the roof function or a complete refitting needed. the tape on rear quarter window can that be removed and photographed- please and thank you.

Obviously, my point was only to show the car appears to have never been painted, furthermore that the entire car appears to be original

  • Idoporsche 3 yearsago

Seriously, a paint meter when the entire paint needs to be stripped and the entire tube dipped.

  • Matthew77 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

In your opinion does the rust on the floors need to be cut and replaced or can it be blasted and coated? It's hard to tell in the pics.

    Is it soft?

  • tampabaysportscars (seller) 3 yearsago

@btahoe we do not have a COA for this car. I have sent PCarMarket the photos you requested. They should be added to the gallery soon.

  • tampabaysportscars (seller) 3 yearsago

@btahoe I removed a portion of the tape for a photo as you requested. The photo should appear in the gallery soon.

  • flataircooled (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

I'm going to guess Euro model based on the heater and lack of rear reflectors above the tail lights. VIN indicates late 62 build.

That duct tape on the sunroof is not really showing the same patina as the car looks fresh. Can you photograph the sunroof with out the tape?

  • btahoe 3 yearsago

Nice color combo. verified by COA? Can you post pictures of torsion tubes?

@Rwade I looked at the interior of the back seat area (photo 47 & 48) while taking additional photos and it does not appear that there is bondo. Might it be the insulation you are seeing?
