Representing the debut of the “Sting Ray” moniker, the second-generation Chevrolet Corvette (C2) was introduced for the 1963 model year featuring all-new styling as well as improved steering, braking, and suspension systems. Orignally a sought-after "Fuelie" model, this 1964 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe has been repainted in its original color of Satin Silver over a two-tone silver and black vinyl interior and is currently powered by a replacement 350 V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Accompanied by its original fuel injection system which can be easily reinstalled, this C2 Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

The second-generation Corvette was originally designed by Larry Shinoda with inspiration from the original Corvette XP-87 Sting Ray racing concept car of 1959. Resprayed in its original color of Satin Silver by Foreign Specialties of New Jersey, this C2 Vette rides on a set of original Kelsey Hayes knock-off wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Redline Radials. Another set of knock-off wheels is also included and comes wrapped in bias ply tires. Equipment includes hideaway headlights, split chrome bumpers, a polished driver-side mirror, dual tailpipes, hood scoop indentations, a rear-mounted antenna, and decorative front fender “speed lines”. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this Stingray features two-tone silver and black vinyl upholstery, which is stated to be mostly original. Factory Equipment includes a central analog clock, a locking glovebox, a center console armrest, a reverse-lockout shifter, a heater, manual window cranks, polished door sill moldings, and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel. The seller states that the stereo has been upgraded with a modern Retro Sound unit that retains a factory appearance while fitting USB ports and SiriusXM satellite radio to the car.

The original powerplant has been replaced with a GM 350ci V8, sending power to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. The car comes with its original Rochester Fuel Injection unit including parts, installation components, manuals, a distributor, and radiator support. Fuel injection gauges are reportedly still in the car. Factory options are said to include special front and rear suspension. Recent maintenance is said to include a new battery installed in June of 2022, a fuel leak repair in February of 2021, an oil and filter change, a new wiper motor, a tachometer repair, a brake system flush, and new spark plugs and coils in November of 2020. The seller states that all gauges and electronics work as they should.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a car cover, some documentation, original parts, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an extremely nice driver quality 1964 Corvette. Starting as a Fuel Injection car and coming with the original Fuel Injection components, it would take very little effort to turn this car back into Fuel Injection, with its original gauges, and manifolds already in place. With its current powerplant, it starts, idles and runs as well as it looks and will make anyone smile driving this iconic Corvette C2 Coupe.”

@bellaghia Yes, it is the original transmission, and it was rebuilt in April of 2018. See photo # 265 in the gallery showing the invoice. The shifter itself was replaced with a more modern Hurst shifter that feels much better than the stock one.

Regarding the headliner, door panels and interior were done in November 2016, photo # 274 is the invoice in the gallery so I do not think they would do the work as good will. I do not see any issue with the fit of the door panels. I understand there are some waviness to the headliner but should be an easy fix by any reputable interior shop and I know the parts are available. I am sure you could reach out to them, and they would give you a quote to replace the headliner. I hope this helps.

Is the transmission original to the car? The shifter does not appear to be.

Does the interior installer Montclair Auto tops and upholstery stand by their install? Any chance of fitting the headline correctly and the door panels?

@Tito993 The upper door seals seem to seat properly. I have not seen any leaks in any of the seals and I have asked the owner if he has experienced any, and he said he has not. He also said he only remembers getting caught in rain once in the time that he owned the car. I have never driven the car in the rain.

Headliner seems to need attention. Do the upper door seals seat properly? Any leaks from any of the window or door seals ?

This is a special C2, the color combo is rare as most were black vinyl. Over the years, many of these silver interiors are converted to black interior. Silver paint is also very attractive softening the muscular lines of the C2. This one is quite interesting with the real knock off wheels and fuel injection system worth upwards of $15k in the retail market. Just drive her and restore later it’s like money in the bank. GLWA

    Welcome all bidders and lookers.

A few corrections I would like to make in the listing. The current wheels that are on the car are the reproductions, the extra set of wheels that comes with the car are the original Kelsey Hayes wheels.

Also, the interior is not original, but it has been completely redone to original specs with the exception of the seats which are now covered in leather instead of vinyl. The shop that did the interior work is a well know shop in NJ called Montclair Auto Tops and upholstery.

Just to being some clarification. I hope that helps.
