Available for auction is this 1964 Jaguar E-Type Coupe finished in Carmen Red over a Biscuit leather interior.  The original E-Type was adapted from the Le Mans-winning D-Type race car and featured unitary construction, disc brakes, independent suspension, and a powerful inline six-cylinder engine. One of the most iconic sports cars of all time, it was rumored that Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type “the most beautiful car ever made” upon its debut in 1961.  This 1964 example is among the last to have been equipped with the original 3.8L engine and has been under the care of the same owner since 1980.  Carefully maintained and refurbished throughout the years, this classic Jaguar E-Type is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

This Series 1 E-Type comes finished in Carmen Red and is said to have undergone a comprehensive restoration by Fernando Gomez Urquiza in 2000, a highly reputable classic car expert based out of Mexico.  The rubber window and door seals are said to have been replaced within the last year and a new glass rear window is said to accompany the sale.  Some small paint bubbles are noted below the passenger-side door as well as a chip on the hood and some corrosion on the chrome bumpers.  The seller notes the car has been garage-kept since the restoration in 2000, additional images are provided in the gallery.  The 15” Dayton chrome wire wheels come fitted with Jaguar knock-off hubs and a set of period-style Vredestein Sprint Classic tires dated from 2017.

Inside, you will find a Biscuit leather interior with matching carpets and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel.  A vintage radio is installed in the center dashboard and the seller describes the cabin to be in excellent condition overall with all gauges and electrical features working properly.

This E-Type is equipped with a carbureted 3.8L inline-six engine sending as much as 265 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Standard features include independent coil-spring rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and a synchromesh gearbox.  Service carried out within the last year is said to include an oil change and inspection of the electrical system.

This sale will include a clean Texas title. The quintessential British sports cars of the twentieth century, this Series 1 Jaguar E-Type awaits its next owner.

@ferrari400i the Interior is leather, and the piping is vinyl , I upload a video whit the brake light off and the temp & amp working , the syncos work ok , I also upload videos under the car if you have more questions please let me now

  • Setter1504 (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

I find it difficult to evaluate the car because the resolution on the detail pictures is very poor.

  • ferrari400i (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    Hello @seller
Are you sure that the interior is leather? Looks like vinyl to me (especially the white material from the wear on the bolsters).
Why is the brake light on when driving ? I do not see a amp needle. Temp seems cold when driving, is the gauge working)?
How are the syncos on downshifting and upshifting?
I am interested in your car I would like to know all of the issues. I would like to bid if i have more accurate info.
    Any under pics?
    Thanks

Because the owner don’t have evidence of the job done , I talk whit Fernando Gomez Urquiza he make the car 21 yeas ago and he told me the car was very clean at that time ,so they paint the body , make service and check engine , gear box , brakes & suspension and they make new interior in leather , the car is in very good condition , run & drive excellent

  • Dwhite (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@fvaldesm1 I read it was restored, so what was done snd where is the evidence?

I did a sale of my etype to purchase a second ferrari thru a condignment, which I still have and it has appriciated as much as the etype would have. I never ever bought a car as an investment and don't recommend that to anyone, cars are to be enjoyed, are not very liquid and can bite you hard if you're not mechanically inclined which I am.

Good luck on the sale, but what type of wotk was really done.

  • fvaldesm1 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

    @racer417 yes is a 3.8 6 cyl 265 hp , 7,670 number produced

  • racer417 2 years, 4 monthsago

Unless I'm missing something, both the pictures and the chassis number show this to be a 3.8 liter car, not a 4.2.

  • fvaldesm1 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@Dwhite hi we never say this is a concurs car , this car is in very good condition , was restored by Fernado Gomez Urquiza by the owner request , as you know a concurs car value now is 250,000 plus This car is ready to use and values on E types are going up again according to Hagerty Just this year 15% .
A concurse car according Hagerty in 2013 was $95.100 now is $266,000 is you keep the car you will make a lot of money and enjoy the car .

  • Dwhite (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

It's very hard for me to believe this car was restored to a level beyond poor. Every picture shows nothing looking well done or even done. I owned a 99.78pt 65 OTS and it looked perfect when I sold it in 2013 after 14 years of driving it and it being garage kept.

  • fvaldesm1 (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago
