We are pleased to present this 1964 MG MGB finished in Tartan Red over a black leather interior. This MGB is a desirable early pull-handle example with a production date from July of 1963 and is said to retain its original engine and transmission per the BMC Heritage Certificate. A lifelong West Coast car, this MBG is said to have been purchased new in Oregon and remained under the care of its original owner for 35 years before it was sold to its second owner in 1994 with 64k miles showing on the odometer. Several notable upgrades and service items have been recently carried out including upgraded carburetors, an overhauled suspension, and a new performance exhaust. This MGB is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with just over 73k miles showing on its 5-digit odometer.
This MGB comes finished in Tartan Red with a black retractable soft top and a removable white painted hardtop. Under the care of its second owner in 1994, a partial repaint was carried out to address some blemishes that were touched up by the original owner. The door jams, engine bay, and trunk are said to retain their factory finish and all the car’s metal bodywork is said to be original including the rare alloy bonnet. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery. Styling features include early pull-style door handles, bright chrome side moldings, a front bumper delete, and a Lucas accessory lamp. This MGB rides on silver 14" wheels dressed in Dunlop tires.
The black leather interior is described to be highly original with the factory seats, rubber floor mats, door panels, trim, and radio showing patina commensurate with the car’s age. New custom-fit carpeting has been installed to match the original specifications and the central tunnel has been covered with leather diamond-stitched upholstery. Features include a passenger-side inner door locking mechanism, a locking glove box, a heater, and a period-correct Mota-Lita steering wheel.
Power comes from a 1.8L inline four cylinder engine recently upgraded with an SU HS6 Special Tuning carburetor conversion kit. It drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Works-style headers and exhaust were sourced from England and recently installed along with an updated tube-type shock conversion kit by Frontline Engineering, refreshed rear suspension using OEM parts, and a Works-style air intake with a scoop integrated into the front grille.
This sale will include a clean title. Don’t miss your chance to own this well-preserved early production MGB with tasteful period-style modifications.

@tdskip Thank you Tom
Justin is a good seller to deal with if you don't know him.
@justinbsc - btw, this is Tom who bought the black plate Bugeye from you years ago.

@Sunny The car has no track use or race history. This is a very original low mileage car that the owner made look like a works car. This is a correct matching numbers car with a 3 main motor.
Thanks for the picture. It seems based on the engine number that the engine is an early, perhaps very early, 5 main motor, is that what you think ?
Does this car have any track/ completion provenance ?
