Available for auction is a rare 1964 Monza Jr. “Highback”, 1 of just 16 known to exist. The “Highback” models were the earliest offered model when the bodies were still being produced at the Corvette manufacturing plant. The seller states there are only 16 known to exist, with this kart being the only known restored example.
This 1964 Monza Jr. “Highback” was designed by GM in collaboration with Rupp as a replica of the Chevrolet Monza SS concept car. GM desgined and manufactured the body which was then suppliied to Rupp for final assembly. Typically, car manufacturers were supplied with already completed karts but Rupp was contracted by GM to modify their existing Dart chassis to accept the GM designed Monza body, a unique and rare opportunity for both companies.
The seller states the kart was restored two years ago, the body was painted its original red with the addition of white offset vinyl stipes (removable). The kart features a black vinyl interior, 5” aluminum turbine-style wheels with bias-ply tires, and a Chevrolet Corvair Monza nose badge. The red fiberglass body surrounds a reinforced tube frame.
The Tecumseh motor has been restored but has not been started. The seller states he wanted to keep the fresh display appearance, as running the engine would discolor the white paint. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a centrifugal clutch and chain drive.

Ok guys, we are in the last few hours, and I must point out how rare this piece is, and the fact it is a General Motors hands on project versus a typical outside generic promotional offering. The body was produced by General Motors, which is not how promotional karts are or were done.
I am also happy to help with shipping logistics, and items like this ship via typical auto transport quicker and often more reasonable than freight, so I will be very happy to help with assistance there.
Beautiful. I, however am more interested in the 240Z behind it!
