The final evolution of Porsche’s original sports car, the 356C was introduced for the 1964 model year featuring four-wheel disc brakes, a refined suspension, and reinforced synchronizer rings for its 4-speed manual gearbox. This 1964 Porsche 356C 1600 Coupe is believed to have been originally purchased by a law professor at Duke University before being sold to one of his students who kept the car for most of its life. It was acquired by the last owner in 2015 and underwent recent maintenance including new tires, bell housing mounts, shocks, a new fuel tank, and carburetor service. This 356C is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut.
This 356C Coupe was factory-finished in Light Ivory (6404) and is said to have been repainted under prior ownership. Equipment includes a decklid with twin engine grilles, chrome bumpers with integrated rear exhaust outlets, a polished driver’s side mirror, gold model lettering, pop-out rear quarter windows, and 15” slotted steel wheels with chrome Porsche-crested hubcaps. The seller notes the rubber seals have been replaced and new Vredestein tires were mounted in September 2023. Some imperfections are noted in the paint and on the chrome window moldings. The cabin is lined with grey square weave carpeting contrasted by a body-colored dash fascia and black leather upholstery covering the seats, door panels, and upper dashboard. Accessories include a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, folding rear seatbacks, front lap belts, manual window cranks, black rubber floor mats, analog VDO gauges, a quartz clock, a heater, and a locking glovebox. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Up to 75 HP comes from an air-cooled 1,582cc flat-four engine with dual Zenith carburetors. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle and the chassis includes four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes at each corner. Recent service is said to include replacement of the shocks, fuel tank, and bellhousing mounts along with carburetor service and general engine maintenance. This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.

Current owner drove regularly in the south for many years. Car was sent to me to assist in the sale. I replaced the fuel tank, rebuilt the petcock, rebuilt the fuel pump, cleaned the carbs, replaced the shocks and repaired electrical as needed. Bulbs, grounds etc. Oil and filter service, suspension service, wheel bearing adjust. The car starts, runs and performs as it should! It also appears the brake calipers were replaced at some point, perhaps prior to the Bohnams sale I do not have record of that.
@Uberzum Engine numbers are within range (according to Brett Johnson's book). Yes, looks cleaned and some bits painted - although the generator nut has been painted black and the Bosch sticker is upside-down.
It would be good to know what's been done to the engine/car since Bonhams sale - sorry if that's been answered already and I missed it.

Hello all, The previous noted sale at Bonhams stated the car was matching numbers. The current owner does not have the Kardex to confirm. I have provided under side photos and will follow up with PCAR to post them.
@Jordanb Thanks for Bonhams info. Engine in new listing has either had various components/ brackets cleaned up or repainted and new decals. Would appreciate seller confirmation of matching #’s.

Interesting. My Ivory C was bought when it was 2 years old by a law student in North Carolina so maybe this one was the inspiration for my owner.
