We are pleased to present this stunning 1964 Porsche 356 SC Coupe finished in Light Ivory over a red leather interior.  Initially purchased by a U.S. service member stationed overseas in Frankfurt Germany, this 1964 example made its way back to the United States in 1965 with its original owner who would cherish and maintain the car until recently.  Highlighting extensive documentation and an original rebuilt number’s matching 1600cc engine, this one-owner 356 SC is now being offered for auction in excellent condition.

This 356 has been professionally refinished in its original factory certified color of Light Ivory.  The original exterior chrome molding is showing some mild patina consistent adding a nice vintage touch to this eye-catching example.  This SC rides on original chrome date-stamped wheels.

Inside, this 356’s cabin has been reupholstered in stunning red leather with period-correct basket weave carpeting.  The seller notes the interior to be in excellent condition with all gauges and electrical components fully functional.

This SC retains its original number’s matching 1600cc flat-four engine which was professionally rebuilt some years ago.  Rated at 95 HP from the factory, the SC was the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had ever built.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a number's matching four-speed manual transmission making for a traditional driving experience.  The seller states that new Koni shocks have been installed along new King Pins all around and much more.  Having been diligently maintained and routinely serviced from new, this 356 SC remains in superb driving condition.

The sale of this 356 will include a set of several sets of original keys, original books, extensive documentation, complete service records, tools, a clear title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  A truly outstanding example, this one-owner 356 SC represents the perfect opportunity for a discerning Porsche enthusiast.

@DriverM Deck lid number is hard to see. It's on the flat under the grilles. The doors are stamped too but hardly worth digging into. Doors on these cars don't interchange very easily and it is original there's little doubt in my mind they are too. Good luck.

@DriverM Thanks for sharing the picture on the hood. Serial # indentations on engine lid should be noticeable if present.

  • DriverM (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@GatedStable I just shot a photo of the numbered hood showing it’s original to the car. I searched the rear deck lid or engine cover for over an hour and can not find any number. I know that sometimes they were stamped into the locking hinge on that lid. There are none. I firmly believe that it is the original deck lid but there are no numbers.

Picked up new in Germany with the requisite German heat which actually works! Has US reflectors, perhaps added. Holes for the European/ROW cars reflectors on the valence. Weber carbs vs. Solex P40-II and incorrect air cleaners. Not really necessary to change back but it's not an inexpensive retrofit.
Whoever used the Torx head wood screws on the paint and body tags shouldn't be working on any car. Fortunately it's a relatively easy repair that anyone with a modicum of mechanical ability can pull off. Tidied up could be a nice driver. GLWA
