Available for auction is this 1965 Chevrolet C2 Corvette Stingray Convertible finished in Milano Maroon over a Maroon interior.  The second generation of Chevrolet’s Corvette sports car, the C2 was the first to bear the Stingray namesake and debuted a new chassis with improved steering, brakes, and suspension. Having reportedly undergone a body-off restoration in 2013, this 1965 example is powered by an upgraded 350ci V8 engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio with just over 1,400 miles driven since the restoration.

The fiberglass bodywork comes finished in Milano Maroon with a black retractable soft top and is said to have been completely refinished during the restoration in 2013.  Some minor cosmetic imperfections are depicted in the gallery. The C2 Corvette was designed by Larry Shinoda and drew styling inspiration from the original Corvette XP-87 Stingray racing concept car of 1959. For the 1965 model year, the Corvette featured a new smoother-looking hood, restyled rocker panel moldings, and triple vertical vents in the front fenders. 15″ turbine-style wheels are fastened with knock-off hubs and come dressed in classic Goldline tires.

The cabin has been reupholstered in Maroon leather with matching carpets and features the twin-cowl dash style from the original Corvette. Features include an analog clock, a vertically mounted AM/FM pushbutton radio, a heater, lockable glovebox, lap belts, and a telescoping wood-rimmed steering wheel. The mileage on the odometer is said to reflect the distance driven since the completion of the restoration.

Power comes from a 350ci fuel-injected V8 engine which is said to produce as much as 409 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The C2 Corvette offered a shorter wheelbase than its predecessor and incorporated a faster recirculating ball steering system, independent rear suspension, and a standard front anti-roll bar. Four-wheel disc brakes with four-piston calipers were also introduced for the 1965 model year. The seller notes that the power steering system has been serviced and new shocks, springs, and a muffler have been recently installed.

This sale will include a clean title. A nicely restored example of America's favorite sports car, this 5-speed C2 makes a great choice for any enthusiast in search of a vintage Corvette.
