Marking the very final year of Porsche’s original sports car, this 1965 Porsche 356C Coupe was acquired by the current owner as a project car about two years ago after it had been kept in storage for over 12 years. It has since been mechanically restored over the course of nearly 18 months while maintaining its natural patina and original appearance. Fortified with new brakes, floor panels, and an overhauled 1,600cc engine, this 356C is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois.

This Coupe came factory-finished in the highly sought-after color of Irish Green (6406). This historic nonmetallic shade is rumored to have been a personal favorite of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and was chosen to represent the one-millionth Porsche 911 which was produced in 2017. Under the current ownership, the floor panels and undercarriage components were replaced and professionally welded to ensure roadworthiness. The seller adds that the Irish Green paint was left untouched to preserve the car’s natural patina. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black vinyl interior has been refreshed with newly upholstered and rebuilt seats. Other equipment includes a black three-spoke steering wheel, a beige headliner, black rubber floor mats, and a body-colored dashboard with a locking glovebox, an analog clock, and a Blaupunkt radio. The seller notes some signs of age and wear and that all gauges and accessories are working properly.

Power comes from a replacement 1,600cc flat-four engine that was sourced from a 356B. The rear wheels are driven via a 4-speed manual gearbox. The seller notes the engine has been overhauled with original parts and rebuilt carburetors. The car was also serviced with rebuilt brakes, new lines, and fresh fluids.

This sale will include a spare tire, a build sheet, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “An 18-month restoration to original condition. New floors and underside sheet metal are from Restoration Design Parts in Canada. The car runs and drives, it could be a contender for originality category car shows.”

To be clear and to answer your questions. This 1965C 356 Irish green coupe is very original and is in good driving and good looking condition.

Nothing is needed at this time other than to be enjoyed it and take out for a ride and occasional car show 😎

The body is solid and has no rust and the floor which has some prior rust have been completely replaced.

The seats are original and have been rebuilt with proper original replacement materials. They now looks new and smell new as well.

The paint has had some paint blending and wet sanding in some areas but looks wonderful and is somewhere between an original appearance and a restored look.

Please feel free to ask any more question and ill
Do my best to answer what I can.

Good luck bidding someone is going to get a awesome Porsche last year 356C coupe with a rare original color combo (Irish green )

I'm not clear! Is this the original green paint and interior?

Was there any other rust noted during the recent repairs?

Any mechanical or structural issues requiring attention?

    Thanks,

    Bob
