Up for auction is this 1965 Porsche 356SC Coupe finished in Red over a tan leather interior. Marking the final model year of Porsche’s 356 model, this 1965 SC Coupe underwent a full bare-metal restoration by Stoddard before it was acquired by the current owner about 28 years ago. Since then, this 356SC has received a custom-built engine by Axel Conrad including a 1758cc upgrade and rebuilt Weber carburetors. With approximately 9k miles driven on the engine build and 38k miles since the restoration, this final-year 356SC is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of New York.
Prior to the current ownership, this 356SC is said to have undergone a complete bare-metal frame-off restoration in its current shade of Red. The seller notes the car to have been garage kept in a climate-controlled setting throughout their ownership, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Exterior features include a twin grille rear decklid, tailpipes integrated into the rear bumper guards, and 15” chrome ventilated wheels featuring Porsche crested hubcaps and period-style Vredestein tires.
The cabin was also completely redone by Stoddard with all new tan leather upholstery and rubber floor mats. A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a painted dashboard retaining an original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The headrests have been removed and are said to also accompany the sale. All gauges and electrical features are reported to be fully functional.
This example has been fitted with a custom-built 1758cc flat-four Porsche engine by Axel Conrad of Foreign Auto Service in Madison, CT. The engine is said to have been built using all new parts and paired with upgraded Weber carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox and stopping power is handled by disc brakes at all four corners. Koni shock absorbers have been installed and new rear brake pads and rotors are said to have been equipped within the last two years. The seller reports approximately 9k miles to have been driven since the engine build, images of the undercarriage are provided in the photo gallery.

@ftsuru I do not know if there was any rust repair done at time of restoration. The car is at stock height and has not been lowered. I do not know the exact HP increase but I would think it is about 10 HP increase. Thanks
@cotton, was there any rust repair done during the restoration (floor pans, battery box, etc)? Has the car been lowered below normal stock height? Do you know what the horsepower increase was after the "big bore" kit was installed? Thanks!

@cotton actually mean the original Porsche build date...
@Augdog1964 I believe this Stoddard restoration [excluding engine] was done in the early '90s. I have kept this car in a heated/dehumidified garage since that period.
Any idea of the build date?
