Available for auction is this restored 1966 Austin Healey 3000 MK III finished in white over a blue leather interior with a navy convertible soft top. Produced from 1959 through 1967, the Austin-Healey 3000 saw success in motorsports throughout the European rally circuit. This 1966 example underwent a complete rotisserie restoration between 2002 and 2004 and has been enjoyed as a concours car since the seller's purchase in 2006. Winner of the “Best Show Car” at the 2005 British Car Classic, this Austin Healey 3000 MK III is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This 3000 MK III is finished in white and complemented by a navy convertible soft top. It rides on classic 15” wire wheels, which are dressed in Dunlop SP Sport tires from 2006. Exterior details include a hood scoop, front auxiliary lights, a side mirror, chrome bumpers with overriders, ventilation windows, and a dual exhaust outlet. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior is appointed with navy blue leather upholstery and polished wood along the dashboard, a contrasting wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, and chrome accents. This MK III has also been fitted with an air conditioning unit and the seller confirms all gauges, electronics, and accessories are working properly.
This 3000 MK III is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed overdrive manual transmission driving the rear wheels. A notable performance upgrade includes the installation of an electric-assisted steering system. The seller adds that this is a numbers-matching example and the engine and transmission have been completely restored. Additionally, regular service is said to have been carried out throughout their ownership, including oil and filters changed, brakes replaced, and the cooling system refreshed.
This sale will include a clean title, some documentation, and a battery charger.
The seller wants you to know: "This is an opportunity to buy one of the best MK III in the USA! It's in general concours condition- ready all throughout inside and out."

Sold for $55,000
@bondtrader is throwing Shade on the P/S and A/C. I don't think so. Look at what updates like an Art Morrison chassis with an LS3 does for a C2 corvette. The way this car is done-up is EXACTLY what quite a few people are looking for.

As a 35 year member of the Austin-Healey club, the power steering and A/C have decreased the collectible value of the car.

Yeah, this is the best 3000 I've ever seen. Just terrific. That Ivory really looks good on this one. GLTA
@BespokeAutos ,there is no issues with the windows, they work all the way perfectly.
Noticed in all photos that the windows are not totally recessed into the doors. Is that an oversight or an issue with this vehicle?

@WallstJack ,
-I can not give you details of the "Rotisserie Restoration", since it was done by the previous owner.
-According to the previous owner , the engine and transmission were extensively Restored and overhauled.
-I do not know weather or not the bumpers were replaced.
-All windows are fully functional by now.
Can you give us a detailed description of the rotisserie restoration. Did it get stripped down to its chassis? Was the engine rebuild extensive? Were the chrome bumpers replaced? Are the windows fully functional? Beautiful car..
Thanks...
@Lash119 It was the previous owner who ordered that ivory creamy color which I think it looks pretty!!
Beautiful car. I had the same year and same color, Old English Ivory. Who would paint this car white when it was originally Healey Blue?
@DonN Sorry!!
Engine and Transmission are "Matching Numbers"

@DonN The engine and transmission are original and "Marching Numbers" completely restored and overhauled when the total restoration was performed.
Today I am adding a photo the Certificate from "British Motor History Heritage Trust"
@DonN This car was completely Nut&Bolt Rotisserie Restored including Engine & Transmission between the years 2002 to 2003.
Sorry I do not know who performed the restoration since I bought the car with this work already done.
Do you have any information regarding the engine and transmission? Original, rebuilt ? If so, by when and by whom ? thanks.
Bid in the amount of $30,250
@DonN Glenn did an Intensive and excellent work installing both: The Electric assisted Steering and the A/C System.
He has also done total restorations on several cars in my collection.
Thanks, I know those folks , I'm in Tampa. Did Glens service the car for an extended period of time ?
@bruce48127 ,
-Tires are Dunlop SP Sport tires from 2006.
-Interior material: PURE leather in Blue
@DrT ,
The A/C if very effective, it does not affect the acceleration, and when it is on, you have to control the idle with your gas pedal.
@DonN ,
The A/C and the Power Steering were installed in March 2010 by:Glenn's MG Repair in Saint Petersburg Florida.
-The Electric assisted Steering was supplied by: EZ Electric Power Steering.
-The manufacturer of the A/C, please ask Glenn at Glenn's MG Repair.
Gorgeous example of a later model Healey..... brings back fond memories from my 1960 3000 MkI BN7.
The integral top and roll-up windows of the '65 and later models were a HUGE improvement over the side curtains and behind-the-seat stowage of the early tops.
Brand, size and dates on tires? Also the description say leather interior - certainly looks like vinyl to me.
Healey conv tops typically do not have air-tight fit around the side windows and a lot of heat intrudes from the transmission tunnel, is the a/c actually effective and how badly is the idle & acceleration effected? Great looking car.
Can you give additional information regarding the A/C manufacturer, compressor model as well as the PS unit ? Also, when and who installed. Thanks
