Lauded by Enzo Ferrari as the “the most beautiful car ever made," the E-type was derived from the D-type race car and featured unitary construction, disc brakes, independent suspension, and a powerful inline six-cylinder engine. This 1966 Coupe comes refinished in grey over a black interior and benefits from an extensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment carried out at a cost of approximately €175,000, including a 5-speed manual transmission, Weber carburetors, widened bodywork, and more. Driven approximately 4k kilometers (2,500 miles) and accompanied by a host of documentation, this unique E-Type is now being offered for auction by its seller out of the Netherlands.

As part of the restoration, the striking bodywork was widened and refinished in its current shade of grey. It rides on aftermarket gray 15” slotted wheels with chrome center work, which are dressed in Maxxis MA-1 tires. Exterior details include chrome trim, a chrome bumper deletion, glass headlight covers, clear side markers, driver and passenger-side fender-mounted mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior of this E-type features reupholstered black leatherette with a matching dashboard, door panels, and rear boot. Appointments include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, chrome accents, a suite of Smith’s instrumentation, toggle switches for various vehicle functions, and roll-up windows. The seller reports the gauges are working properly although show signs of age.

Power is derived from an overhauled 4.2-liter inline-six engine which has been equipped with three Weber carburetors, and sends power to the rear wheels through an upgraded 5-speed manual transmission. Standard features include an independent coil-spring rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and a synchromesh gearbox, while power steering was optionally selected. The seller states a host of invoices and photos of the rebuild will accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean exported Dutch title and extensive documentation.

@wonk Yes indeed to invest 175,000 euros into this car is a lot of money indeed and that is one of the reasons of the asking price on our website(besides that you won't find an Etype like this somewhere else). Of course the reserve price here is lower than our asking price was.

    Hi

I’ve watched this car sit for sale since 2021 unsold (I get your emails). Are you still looking for 199,000€?

I don’t doubt the cost of work put in but maybe there is a reason it hasn’t moved. These jags tend to command more money for originality than restomod it seems. (Unless it has an LS or something - like that great one on BaT a couple years back that did pretty well)

I was interested in it but pretty put off on the asking price. Way more collectible E types at that price point.
