The Jaguar E-Type, or XKE as it was marketed in the United States, is one of the most recognizable automobiles ever created and is rumored to have been regarded as “the most beautiful car ever made” by Enzo Ferrari. This 1966 XKE Series I Coupe was acquired by the Wilson Collection in 2006 after undergoing extensive refurbishment including new green paint, a reupholstered tan leather interior, an upgraded suspension, new brakes, electronic ignition, Magnaflow mufflers, and the installation of 4.2-liter inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine has also been modified with a performance head and camshaft under the current ownership. Recently serviced with a carburetor tune-up and new tires, this iconic Jaguar is now being offered for auction out of Florida.

Prior to the seller’s acquisition, this XKE was refinished in the current shade of green during which time the floor pans are also said to have been replaced along with some of the body's sheet metal. The car is adorned with chrome window moldings and bumpers, a polished driver’s side mirror, dual center-mounted tailpipes, covered headlights, and a louvered clamshell bonnet with hood straps. It rides on silver 15” Dunlop alloy wheels with knockoffs and new Michelin Radial X tires sized 205/70. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been redone and lined with tan carpeting and matching leather upholstery covering the bucket seats, center console, door panels, and rear shelf. The driver is situated ahead of a wood-rimmed Nardi Torino three-spoke steering wheel and a black dashboard housing analog Smiths instrumentation with auxiliary gauges mounted above the center console. Accessories include carpet floor mats, heating, air conditioning, and manual roll-up windows. The seller notes some rust is visible in the door jambs as well as discoloration near the carpeted transmission tunnel.

Power comes from a replacement 4.2-liter XK inline-six engine that is said to have been overhauled and fitted with a performance head and cam, electronic ignition, polished valve covers, a Teflon crank seal with a billet aluminum housing, triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors, and a custom exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The chassis includes an overhauled four-wheel disc brake system and an upgraded suspension with adjustable Afco front shocks and rear coilovers. The seller notes that the carburetors were serviced in May 2023 and the car has been driven approximately 2,500 miles while in their collection

This sale will include a clean title, service records, and a driver’s handbook. The seller notes the title shows a 1967 model year, although the vehicle's chassis number corresponds with a 1966 production date.

@cccmanhattan she drives wonderfully at highway speeds.

  • WilsonCollection (seller) 9 months, 2 weeksago

@cccmanhattan it is hard to say how many miles have been put on since the rebuild, but I can say with confidence it's less than 5k. Video 3 at 2:44 I drop it in 5th gear going about 65 - 70 mph. I hope this helps

Any idea how many miles have been completed since the restoration / upgrades?

In your videos, it seems you never make it past 45mph /4th gear. How does she go at highway speed?

@StablesCollection the water temp is fine while driving with the A/C on. I drove the car a week ago, the heat index was in the 90's. I hope this helps.

Thanks....is the water temp manageable w/the A/C on in the summer? Optimizing A/C operation is essential here in AZ.

@StablesCollection There are four outlets. One on each side of the rear seat. It does get colder. When I took that picture I only ran the motor for a minute. If you let it run a little longer it can get down to 57 degrees. When Driving I would have to imagine it's a bit colder then sitting still. I hope this helps.

@WilsonCollection...a few A/C questions...how many cold outlets are there? I see two pictured but there appear to be 4 outlets in the boot. Also, does it get any colder than 65 when you're driving & spinning the compressor a bit faster? Where does the temp run w/the A/C on? I know this depends on several factors...but on average... Thanks

@garrege that’s correct. Unfortunately the high bidder was unresponsive and BaT doesn’t offer the ability to make contact with any other bidders. If anyone would like in depth details of the car, don’t hesitate to message me directly.
