The Mini was designed and built by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and sold under the Austin and Morris marques until Mini became its own brand in 1969. The Mini Cooper S was the performance-oriented model, equipped with a higher displacement engine and larger servo-assisted disc brakes. This 1966 Morris Mini Cooper S was built on May 26th, 1966 and was sold new at Stewart & Arden Morris Distributors of London. It remained in the United Kingdom before being restored, converted to left-hand drive, and imported to the United States sometime around 2012. The full restoration consisted of a mild performance rebuild of the engine, a repaint in its factory colors of Old English White, and a reupholstered Red and Gold/grey interior with Deluxe seats. Accompanied by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) certificate, this 1966 Morris Mini Cooper S is now being offered at auction by its seller out of California.

As part of the restoration, the exterior of this Mini Cooper was repainted in its factory color combination of Old English White (WT-3) with a contrasting black roof. Equipment includes front and rear chrome bumpers with overriders, chrome fender-mounted mirrors, a polished fuel filler, and a single exhaust tip. Detailed images are provided in the gallery depicting the vehicle’s condition. The 10” Minilite wheels are mounted with Yokohama A-008 tires dated from 2003.

The interior features two reupholstered Deluxe front bucket seats and a rear bench, trimmed in red leather with grey textured inserts, matching grey textured door panel inserts, a textured grey dashboard panel, and red carpet. Amenities include an optional fresh air heater, a Webasto folding sunroof, a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, rubber floormats, and a Cooper branded shift knob.

The Cooper S is powered by a 1275 cc inline four-cylinder engine that routes power to the front wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. During the restoration, the engine was rebuilt, overbored, and received the installation of a street performance camshaft. The engine block is believed to be original to the vehicle, as the BMIHT certificate lists the block number as 9F-SA-Y/41563, and the engine stamping reads # 9F-SA-Y41564, likely due to a clerical error. The restoration also included the installation of an upgraded suspension and a new stainless steel exhaust system.

This sale will include a clean title and some receipts detailing the restoration.

What’s the blue MG in the back with for sale sign?

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@Dude356 They are connected with no switching needed.

  • Dude356 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@justinbsc, regarding the 2 fuel tanks, are they separate or connected. If separate, what kind of switching is there to activate one or the other.
    Thanks.

@Dude356 I don't have info on when the Webasto roof was installed. It does look like a fairly modern unit so I would assume it was installed at the time of the restoration which was in around 2012. It works perfectly and is in excellent condition. I have included the photos around the window so that buyers know exactly what they are buying. I cant speak to more than that as I just don't know.

  • Dude356 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@justinbsc, Can you talk about the cracking paint and rust around the top corners of the windshield. Also, is the Webasto sunroof new? When was it installed? Can you show any photos or video of the roof open and details of the track at the front. Thanks.

@Ringmeister What you see is stone guard finish that has been painted over.

  • eurocars2407 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Can you please send pictures of the engine without the plastic cover please, thanks

  • Ringmeister (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Photos 80 and 81. What’s going on behind the bumpers it looks awfully nasty under there.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@batimes I do see what you are referring too but as I said it doesn't have fiberglass. The car is here in my showroom and I am the one who racked the car and took the photos. 100% it doesn't have fiberglass. It is think rust prevention.

  • batimes (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

So sorry but when comparing the both front upper panels the right side has fiberglass, that is not undercover rust protection, what you have there is very thick, you can see whole that reveal the metal underneath

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@batimes That is not fiberglass, what you see is rust protection. The car doesn't have any fiberglass in it.

  • batimes (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I see a quite a bit of fiberglass repair on the floor boards, can you elaborate or show pictures of repair before and after?

Happy to answer any questions anyone may have. This is a genuine Cooper S that runs and drives fantastic. It currently doesn't need anything.
