This 1966 Porsche 911 Coupe is said to have been acquired from its long-term owner out of Denver, Colorado, and has remained with the seller in Wyoming for approximately 10 years. This early example was factory-finished in Polo Red over a black interior and ordered with a rare optional sunroof and Webasto gas heater. An excellent candidate for a complete restoration, this historic 911 is now being offered for auction.

This example was reportedly factory-painted in Polo Red and is said to have been refinished approximately 30 years ago with the top sides of the hood and rear bumper left unpainted. It features an optional sunroof and rides on factory-correct 15” disc-brake chrome-plated wheels wrapped in older Michelin tires. As a 1966 model, this 911 is fitted with the desirable early 2-screw air vents on the front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior is complemented by wooden dashboard trim and a wood-rimmed steering wheel which frames VDO instrumentation. The seller believes the 5-digit odometer reading to be accurate, showing 71,307 miles, although is unable to confirm the functionality of the gauges and electronics. The original carpets, headliner, upholstery, and Webasto gas heater are present.

Power is derived from a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter flat-six engine, sending up to 130 HP and 129 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller states the engine and transmission are original to the car, and photos of the casing numbers are shown in the gallery. A full mechanical restoration is recommended by the seller.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: Just out of long-term storage. Excellent car to restore.”

@kampalakustomz no worries, it is kept private for good reason. Always assume the high bid could be a winning bid. Often times if reserve is not met, sellers will remove it at the very end.

    what's the reserve?

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 1 year, 1 monthago

I don’t have any idea what the costs are if you take it to a retail Porsche service shop.

This car has been inside since I bought it 12 years ago.
Before that it sat in the previous owner’s shop for a couple decades.

  • driveflorida 1 year, 1 monthago

I’ve heard mechanical restoration on these cars can be very costly? What would you think the cost of that could be?

Also, has the car been sitting out exposed to rain and moisture?

  • kampalakustomz 1 year, 1 monthago

@PcarLiquidators a lot of parts on back order with no ship date from what we have seen. good to know floor is solid!

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 1 year, 1 monthago

Whether they need it or not.

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 1 year, 1 monthago

Almost every sheet metal panel is available for early Porsche 911/912 cars.

  • kampalakustomz 1 year, 1 monthago

are there any further pictures of the rear seat floor area? these look rusty and as you know there are no pattern floor pans available anywhere in the world currently to replace that area!

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 1 year, 1 monthago

Engine and trans number pictures are posted.
They are in the correct range for this car and most likely original to car.
But do not have a COA to check.
The new Porsche COA shows very little info.
The Kardex would have all the info but I don’t have one.
There are several people on the internet that can provide copies of the kardex.

  • Brettthejet (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

Does engine numbers in training numbers match the COA? Can you confirm it’s numbers matching?
