The second generation of Chevrolet’s Corvette sports car, the iconic C2 was the first to bear the Stingray namesake and debuted a new chassis with improved steering, brakes, and suspension. This 1967 Convertible was ordered in Rally Red over black upholstery and features a highly desirable L71 427/435 HP V8 engine paired with a Muncie M-21 4-speed manual transmission. Having completed a full frame-off restoration that meticulously addressed every nut and bolt in 2006, this example received an NCRS Top-Flight Blue Ribbon award in April of that year. Most recently owned by an avid enthusiast, this highly collectible Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina.

This Stingray comes finished in a striking shade of Rally Red with a black painted hood stripe, a matching removable soft top, split chrome front & rear bumpers, smooth chrome-trimmed rocker panels, and a single reverse light over the rear license plate. Its distinctive design is further characterized by pop-up headlights, a hood scoop, a single chrome driver’s side mirror, a power antenna, optional dual side-exit exhaust outlets, and 15” Rally wheels which come mounted with Auburn Radial Redline reproduction tires from 2022. The seller notes one minor paint imperfection of the passenger-side fender which has been professionally repaired as well as a hardly noticeable stress fracture on the driver’s side of the hood. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents black vinyl upholstery including bucket seats with headrests and a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting, contrasted with stainless steel accents. Amenities include a polished ball shifter, power windows, a locking glovebox, and an analog clock. The seller adds that a mid-year Corvette vintage air conditioning system has been professionally installed. Minor creasing is noted on the driver’s seat and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

Beneath the hood lies a coveted “Tri-Power” triple two-barrel carbureted L71 427ci V8 engine rated at 435 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a Muncie M-21 4-speed manual close-ratio transmission and GM Posi-traction limited-slip differential. A GM power steering pump was installed under prior ownership and a factory side-mounted exhaust system was recently installed as well. The seller states that a complete frame-off and nut-&-bolt restoration was completed in 2006 and documents showing matching engine and transmission numbers will accompany the sale. Noteworthy service items are said to include a complete carburetor rebuild along with the installation of a factory-correct rebuilt starter, a rebuilt clock, and a four-row aluminum radiator tune-up within the last 18 months by the specialists at Jamison Corvette in North Charleston, South Carolina. The seller notes a minor drivetrain oil leak and original parts that were removed are also said to be included in the sale.

This sale will include a clean title and a host of documentation.

The exterior finish is nearly flawless. Our detailer performed a single stage paint correction & subsequently applied G-Techniq Ceramic Coating. The basecoat/clearcoat paint that was applied in late 2005 is exceptional.

    @eight_bit_micro Nice find!
The most recent owner invested quite a bit of time & $$$ to elevate this 427 L71 Corvette to its' current strong #2 condition. The tires were 15+ yrs old, The Triple-Deuce setup was way out of tune & the starter was on its' last legs. All of these issues were corrected the right way by Jamison's Corvette in N. Charleston, SC. It's now a turn-key example.

Please reference image #90. JA is the correct code for this 1967 L71 427/435HP Corvette.

The 327 Corvette that we sold earlier in the year, came with the HE Code motor

  • davidandrewberg (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

The JE images wouldn’t have come from a 327 Corvette as JE is a 427 engine suffix not a 327
    Need the docs posted.

@ParamountAutomotive Yes. We have a comprehensive binder/folder of documentation and restoration images that will convey with the sale of this L71 427 Corvette.

  • MCMotorcars (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@MCMotorcars These erroneous images will be removed within the next 30mins. Thanks for your patience.

  • MCMotorcars (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

Thanks for your inquiry. The S122510 VIN sequence & JA Code are the correct images. The other VIN sequence images & JE Code are from another 1967 327 Corvette that we sold earlier in the year. These images found their way into this 427 Corvette image folder. Please excuse the confusion. Our mistake.

  • ParamountAutomotive (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

@MCMotorcars @MCMotorcars- Does it come with the Corvette when purchased it?

  • MCMotorcars (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@ParamountAutomotive Yes. The Ray Sinor Report is in our possession.

  • ParamountAutomotive (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Do you still have the Roy Sinor report when he inspected it on Monday, May 8th, 2017?

  • davidandrewberg (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

In short, the engine number documentation doesn’t match the photos JA and JE - needs an explanation as it’s a significant issue on this car.

  • ejbisch (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

    Oh...and window sticker.

  • ejbisch (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

I'm confused...the documents show engine pad T0606JA and partial Vin 7122510 and same Vin for transmission yet the pictures show engine pad T0614JE and partial Vin 7122533 with same transmission Vin. JA sticker is on valve cover. Also, Top Flight award to Noal Grace on Oct 21, 2006 and Gold Award to Tommy Stracener on Aug 6, 2005. Can you explain all these discrepancies and you state fully documented....can you provide the Protecto plate, original purchase agreement, and the order form?

  • MCMotorcars (seller) 5 months, 1 weekago

@ParamountAutomotive Thanks for your inquiry. There is one tiny spider-crack on the driver side of the hood. It’s barely visible. (Refer to the video walk around) This is the original frame. It was media blasted then refinished in DuPont Imron (nearly indestructible) as part of the resto.

  • ParamountAutomotive (registered bidder) 5 months, 1 weekago

Does the paint have any spider cracks or chips in it? Was the frame replaced after the TOP FLITE AWARD?

@jerry991 Jerry, Thanks for chiming in. Your insight is 100% accurate. This 427 Corvette was a trailer queen for many years following the comprehensive restoration.
It remains in outstanding condition yet, can now be enjoyed and actually driven home from a Classic Car Show with a trophy in the passenger seat!

I have owned a couple of 427 1967 Corvettes and if you have any intention of really driving the car the added power steering would make the experience so much better. The added a/c means a real commitment to driving the car as it can get really hot inside the car in the warmer months. So if you want to drive the car and not worry about having the car judged this car would be the one.

GM power steering was added by the 3rd owner and no power brakes. Good catch. These typos will be corrected.

  • TheGuesser (registered bidder) 5 months, 2 weeksago

@pcarmarket and @MCMotorcars - Please confirm this statement in the fourth paragraph, "Factory features include power steering and power brakes." I do not see a brake booster under the hood. I may have missed it and neither of these options are listed by the seller in their notes. Thank you.
