Being offered up for auction is this pristine 1967 Porsche SWB 911. The car was fully restored between 2016-17 by the seller, a seasoned Porsche restorer, who until recently owned his own shop. The Slate Gray exterior (reminiscent of Steve McQueen's last special order Porsche) shines beautifully. The black interior features custom houndstooth inserts and a perforated white headliner.
This early 911 body was purchased by the seller for a client back in 2016. He was summoned to build and finish the car in Slate Gray to match the clients GT3. New floor boards were installed and a complete restoration was underway. Upon completion of the build, the builder/seller subsequently took possession of the car. The seller states that the chassis (#308199) was undamaged when purchased.
According to the seller, every part of this 911 has been restored, replaced or rebuilt. The photos show in detail this car to be in fantastic condition. The dash face features brushed metal trim and VDO instrumentation with an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and an analog clock. The interior looks crisp and built to a high quality.
The exterior brightwork was replaced and/or polished and as a result, shines beautifully. Correct polished hubcaps finish off the chrome wheels and are wrapped with vintage-style Michelin XZX tires.
The seller has reported that this 1967 911 earned a “Best of the 60s” award at an all-German car show in Boerne, Texas in 2017.
Power comes from a rebuilt 2.0L flat-six, which is equipped with Weber carburetors and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 911 has traveled only 1k miles since completion and now shows just over 17k on the odometer (TMU).
The new owner will receive a fresh oil change, parts receipts showing $30K from “911 Motors”, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The Porsche 911 was developed as a more powerful, larger, and a more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356, the company's first model. The new car made its public debut at the 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The 911 model was evolutionary with better visibility and shoulder room. Early 911s had much of the vintage charm of a 356 with upgraded performance and comfort.

@RobinBanks I am the bidder and normally wouldn’t respond to comments that serve no purpose. You responded to your own point. What is the point of making a ridiculously low bid on a car with a reserve. My thought is, let’s get to it! If you looking for entertainment and have nothing better to do, I guess make all the useles Bidding you want. But why call someone out for making a bid? Have a good day, Hank
@RobinBanks my thinking would be that it’s a buyer who recognizes that this car isn’t going to sell for $18k and wanted to start what I would call the realistic bidding. Maybe I’m just being wishful.
Wow..from $18k to $65k...makes you wonder if it's a shill bid. I certainly wouldn't want to pay $47k more even though it's a reserved auction. This is nuts!

Can’t help but notice that there hasn’t been a lot of interest in this car yet....
Thought I would just add a few bits of information to help spark a little:
Please take the time to look at the detail pictures of this car. It may not be a numbers matching 67 but it is a fully restored one and is a great driver in almost perfect condition. Absolutely everything has been gone through and replaced, rebuilt or restored. Effectively it is new in almost every respect. It has less than 1000 miles on it since complete restoration.
Minor point worth making also. There is a minor typo in the description. The description describes $30,000 worth of receipts from 911 Motors. To be precise there is actually $30,000 in receipts from suppliers ( the cost of parts only). None of these receipts include bodywork, paint or labor in assembly or many of the parts scrounged from various sources that were used when parts were simply unobtainium. Begging,borrowing, trading and stealing (not really) is not uncommon when trying to put together a car as rare as this one. The actual cost of renovation was well in excess of $110,000 and considerably more than the current reserve. If you are looking for a numbers matching 67 then this car is not for you. But if you are looking for a great driver that will almost certainly take out your local concourse and is available at half the price of the aforementioned then this is definatly worth a look and maybe a bid.

@eblais I’m not sure what exactly your question is here so I’m going to hope my prior introduction to the car explains all.
The car is not numbers matching.
So by way of introducing this car. Until a year or so ago I partnered in a small Porsche restoration and repair business. While at the business we built this car to a customer’s specification. He wanted a short wheelbase 911 to be finished in colors to match his GT3. Starting from a locally acquired 67 shell we built this car up to be as close as possible a “correct” base 67. The shell was damage free and showed very little rust. After being mechanically stripped to bare metal the only rust found was pin holes in the driver side floor and a small amount of rust in the top edge of the very front “drip Rail”. Just to be certain, the floors and drip rail were replaced . The car was then painted Slate Gray before being completely rebuilt from the ground up using new or restored parts right down to every nut and bolt. A “correct” 2.0 liter motor and 901 gearbox were located and rebuilt to standard specifications. New brakes, suspension, rubber etc were installed. The chrome work was redone. The instruments were rebuilt by Hollywood. The owner loved it but for financial reasons asked if I might know anyone interested in buying it. Knowing how solid this chassis was I bought it.
That brings me to today where I find myself needing to downsize both my modest collection of Pcars and my life. My new garage will only accommodate 4 cars so I’ve been selling off several others.
This car is not numbers matching, not its original color and has a very few other deviations from being absolutely correct 67. iE it has houndstooth inserts in the seats. Having said that, I believe the reserve reflects the cars worth. If this was a true numbers matching car it would probably sell for twice what I’m asking. It’s pretty close to immaculate, drives beautifully and is about as visceral a 911 experience as one can have.
The car is available for inspection/driving any time at my San Antonio home.

@eblais Is there an underlying issue here or are you just upset that the car doesn’t have a matching numbers engine or paint. I own a 68 911 with a period correct motor that is a fantastic car. I could have spent near 200k for a numbers matching car or half for the same quality without numbers matching. It’s good to have a choice, don’t you think?
