Now available is this rare and highly sought after 1967 Porsche 911 S soft window Targa finished in Light Ivory over a black interior. Marking the first iteration of the iconic Targa model, this number’s matching 1967 example features a removable soft rear window making it one of the most collectible vintage Porsche’s on the road. Having undergone a full bare metal rotisserie restoration as well as a full engine rebuild, this Targa is accompanied by over $200k worth of receipts and service records dating back to 1969. This 911 S is now being offered in exemplary condition displaying approximately 230 miles on the odometer.
This 911 was brought down to bare metal and professionally refinished in its factory original color of Light Ivory. During the restoration process every component is stated to have either been replaced or restored to as-new standards. The car is said to remain in exceptional Concours-ready condition; detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Noteworthy details include gold exterior lettering, a distinctive stainless-steel wraparound Targa bar, and a removable soft plastic rear window. This 911 S currently rides on 5 ½ x 15” OEM date-coded Fuchs wheels which come wrapped in period-correct tires, although the original set of 4 ½ x 15” wheels will be included in the sale.
The black interior has been painstakingly restored by Auto International in San Diego, California. The speedometer was rebuilt and Cocoa floormats were added along with black leather and houndstooth upholstered seats. The seller confirms that the original black leatherette seats will be included in the sale. All gauges, electrical components, and accessories are stated to be fully functional.
Representing Porsche’s top of the line Targa model, this 911 S carries its original air-cooled 2.0 L flat-six carbureted engine which is rated at 160 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching 5-speed manual transmission. In 2015 Patrick Motorsports performed a full mechanical restoration as well as a complete engine rebuild. All receipts are included in the sale and the seller indicates that less than 100 miles have been added since the restoration. Offered with an extensive collection of service records dating back to 1969, this 911 S is stated to be in excellent running order.
The sale of this highly collectible Targa will include original books, tools, seats and wheels, a set of two keys, a collection of service records, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This beautifully restored soft window Targa makes the perfect choice for any discerning air-cooled enthusiast.
