This short-wheelbase 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe was shipped new from Germany to its first owner in San Mateo, California, and remained in-state with the second owner’s family before being sold sometime in the early 2000s. The next owner is said to have maintained and daily driven the car up until his passing about one year ago when it was purchased by the seller. Having since undergone extensive restoration including a full repaint, engine rebuild, and a completely overhauled suspension, this numbers-matching 912 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Coupe was completely stripped and refinished in its factory Silver Metallic color in 2022 followed by a protective clear coat. The turn signal lenses, taillights, brightwork, and chrome bumpers are all said to be in very good original condition. The chassis and floor pans are said to be free of corrosion and were recently treated with protective undercoating. This 912 rides on a set of 15” Fuchs wheels with new Falken tires mounted within the last year. Other accessories include Hella driving lights, a chrome driver’s side mirror, and U.S. spec sealed-beam halogen headlamps.

The black leatherette interior is said to retain all original panels and has been refreshed with a new headliner and carpeting. The original dashboard was also removed, refinished, and fitted with a new speaker. The seller notes the clock is inoperable, the radio has not been connected, and the original rubber floor mats are hidden beneath the new carpeting.

The air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four engine is paired with a numbers-matching 4-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels. Within the last year, an engine rebuild was completed by Connie Mac Engineering of Canoga Park including the installation of an upgraded Dansk sport muffler. All new shifter bushings have been installed and the brakes were rebuilt with new lines, calipers, and a new master cylinder. The carburetors were also rebuilt along with the suspension including new rear Bilstein shocks and re-plated hardware. The seller adds that the fuel tank was cleaned and repainted as well.

This sale will include a copy of the original Kardex, an original jack and toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

    @pilot73 thanks just asking. The startup video the car appeared to be covered in dew (like sitting out overnight). All good!

    The car has been garaged all its life look at the dash and the bright work .This car is matching numbers there is a picture of the cardex as well as engine numbers

  • Damaho912 1 year, 1 monthago

    @pilot73 what 912 doesn’t leak? Normal imo.

  • Damaho912 1 year, 1 monthago

    Is car kept outside (asking based on the startup video)? If so, has it been sitting in the rain/snow you guys have been getting for a while now?

  • Nivek87 (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

    Is the engine numbers matching, or is it just the transmission that is numbers matching?

  • pilot73 (seller) 1 year, 1 monthago

    I had a potential buyer come and test drive the car I didn’t realize they listed the car as a five speed it is a four-speed we also found that the engine leaks oil and so does the gearbox the car had intermittent problems starting it drove great. He brought two guys over with him one had a body shop the other one had a Concourse 912 they had mentioned that they thought the back of the car was hit however when we strip the car down to bare metal we didn’t see any evidence of this .the wheels that are on the car are deep six style Fuchs but they are not factory fuchs they are aftermarket ,just being upfront about this

    The result of all of that effort is spectacular. The minor deficiencies noted seem like they would be fairly easy to address to push this to the highest level of attraction for potential bidders and would probably increase the final bid amount far more than the cost for those minor repairs. I'll bid knowing this will eventually bring far more than I can justify. Good luck seller.
