Offered as an entry-level model alongside Porsche’s flagship 911 sports car, the 912 shared the same bodywork and featured a 1,600cc flat-four engine which was lightweight, highly efficient, and easier to maintain. This 1967 example is said to have been originally delivered to Calgary in Alberta, Canada, and was eventually brought to British Columbia where a full restoration was completed by Jakob Porsche in 2006. It had been cared for and sparingly driven by the same owner for 17 years upon the seller’s acquisition in July 2023. An early air-cooled classic, this 912 Coupe is now being offered for auction out of Canada.

This short-wheelbase Coupe is said to have been completely refinished in the current Black paint color during its restoration in 2006. As an early 1967 model, the car exhibits some of the earliest Porsche 911/912 styling characteristics including a rear decklid with an offset emblem, chrome bumperettes, chrome pushbutton door handles, body moldings with thin rubbing strips, and silver-colored windshield wiper arms parked on the passenger side. Other details include rectangular driving lights below the front bumper, a polished driver’s side mirror, chrome headlight rings, pop-out rear quarter windows, and front vent windows. The car rides on a set of professionally refinished 14” Fuchs wheels which are period-correct and come dressed in Pirelli tires (2011). The original 15” steel wheels are also said to be included along with their chrome hubcaps. The seller notes minor surface rust is present on the rear of the front fenders and rockers as well as some stone chips on the front end. Paint meter readings show a slightly thicker finish on the hood and on one door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is lined with charcoal square weave carpeting and features a black dashboard with matching leather seats and a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. The dash fascia includes brushed aluminum trim as well as an original Blaupunkt pushbutton radio which is currently inoperable. The seller describes the headliner to be well preserved and the rest of the interior to be in excellent overall condition.

The 912 is powered by a dual-carbureted 1,600cc flat-four pushrod Type 616 engine which was based upon that of the previous 356SC model. This example is equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle that sends power to the rear wheels. Following the complete restoration by Jakob Porsche in 2006, this 912 received standard routine maintenance including the recent replacements of the oil pressure sender unit and spark plugs in May 2023. Service invoices are provided for reference in the gallery.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thanks for checking out this really nice original Porsche 912. Although I'm a licensed car dealer in Ontario, Canada, first and foremost I'm a certified car nut and Porsche aficionado. I just acquired this vehicle from the previous owner who purchased the car in 2006 with his father when he was 12 years old! His dad was driving a 911 at the time. The previous owner rarely drove this car and it was seen mostly at local car shows and meets in British Columbia, Canada. This is a really solid example of an early generation air-cooled Porsche.”
