Now up for auction is this 1967 Porsche 912 presented in Signal Red over a Black leatherette interior. Representing Porsche’s entry-level sports car of the 60’s and 70’s, the 912 was debuted using the iconic chassis of the 911 paired with a 1600cc flat-four engine derived from the 356 SC. This 912 was purchased by the seller from its previous owner in Arkansas in 2017 before it was treated to a full professional respray and a full brake and front suspension rebuild as well as some other significant refurbishments. It is now being offered by its seller in Nebraska in exceptional driving condition accompanied by service records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
Originally ordered in Polo Red, this 912 received a complete refinish in the color of Signal Red in 2018. The finish is said to remain in great condition and the seller indicates that the windshield and left front fender were replaced under previous ownership many years ago (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). All rubber seals and gaskets are said to have been replaced at the time of the respray and the seller notes the exterior brightwork to have been recently refinished. Factory optional 15” chrome ventilated wheels are equipped which come dressed in newer Nexen SB-802 tires.
The Black leatherette interior is reported to be in excellent, partially restored condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional. The front seats were previously re-covered, and the German square-weave carpeting was replaced under the current ownership. The seller also notes that por-15 rust inhibitor has been used on the floor boards and they also remain in excellent shape. The original headliner has been retained along with the Blaupunkt AM/FM shortwave radio which was fully rebuilt. Aftermarket Coco floormats have been installed and the rear pop-out window latches and vent catches have been re-plated.
Power comes from a correct Porsche 1600cc flat-four engine sourced from a 1969 912. Approximately 90 HP is distributed to the rear wheels through an original 4-speed manual transmission. The engine is said to have been rebuilt prior to the current owner’s purchase and recent maintenance items were performed including a full braking system and front suspension rebuild, a rebuilt pedal box, rebuilt shift linkage, a new battery and new rain tray. All basic service is said to be up to date and service records will be included which detail the recent work performed.
This sale will include three keys, service records, the original jack and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

@CEM3 The rear suspension was left at the ride height when purchased. The front suspension was rebuilt with new lower control arm bushings and set at the recommended ride height and tightened down at that setting. I hope this answers your question. Thanks Larry

@CEM3 you then reinsert it and replace the cover. That’s the simple explanation. It’s actually a complicated process that has to be done very carefully. The 912’s (at least mine was) can sit high in the rear end and lowering it really improves handling.
Decambering is lowering the rear end. It’s a complicated process that requires removing the torsion bar cover and pulling out the torsion bar enough to disengage splines and rotating it.

Yes Chipper, it sold back in June of this year for $45K on Bat. The buyer was able to talk his way out of the sale saying someone did the bidding without his permission. Bat held his fee and barded him from bidding again on Bat. Bat was kind enough to return my listing fee and that's why I'm using another venue.
This car recently sold on bring a trailer for $45k so it's an odd choice to relist it here??

@lekrz well I guess that I need to proof read my replies before I send them!! Geesh what a bunch of errors..sorry. Law school turned out great and I have no regrets except that I would like to find my old one. I later bought a Boxster but had to promise my wife and mother that I wouldn’t race it. @CEM3 I know the feeling when a car sells and you're not 100% ready. I hope law school turned out to be your best choice. The only reason for my selling this car is I have two other Porsches that aren't driven enough. 993 RS tribute and my wife's 996 C4 Cab. Larry
@lekrz I have tried it with no luck. I was going to add Weber’s and port and polish the heads but law school got in the way!! So I had to sell it. Broke my heart. It was crazy but my gas mileage went up snot 10 mph per gallon after the upgrades. When I would blip the gas the Tom’ss would go up snd hang for awhile before dropping. Before they’d go up and drop right away. A mechanic told me it was because the engine was using the gas more efficiently.
@CEM3 WoW! a really great 66 / 912 for sure. Have you checked the 912 registry to see if it shows up? My car is cold natured at start up with Weber's , but smooths out at warm up. I personally feel the 4 speed gives better performance than the 5 speed I had in a previous car.
@lekrz it’s a beautiful restoration. It’s almost identical to my ‘66 912. I had chrome wheels, two Talbot mirrors and driving lights on brackets coming from the two grills in front end. Plus I had put 2000 cc Mahler pistons, roller crank and Isky 1010A racing cam and Isky valve keepers in it. It screamed!! I had 5 gauges but they were two Sami single gauges. An Amp on one side and oil pressure on the other. I’ve never seen that configuration again. I’ve looked for mine for years to no avail?
@CEM3 I agree chrome would be my first choice, however the restoration cost's forced me to decide to strip the original worn out chrome for powder coated wheels. I've sent wheels to CA for a previous restoration and was disappointed with the plate work. I appreciate your thoughts.
Sorry not chrome wheels. Chrome hub caps but wheels are painted.
