The 1968 Fiat Abarth 595 SS is a classic and iconic version of the Fiat 500, modified and enhanced by the Italian tuning company Abarth for a sportier driving experience. It stands as a highlight in the partnership between Abarth and Fiat, demonstrating the performance capabilities inherent in small, compact vehicles. Refinished in white over red upholstery, this 1968 example is said to have been completely restored and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
Based on the Fiat 500, the Abarth 595 bodywork showcases classic rounded contours and a compact design. Reported to have undergone a complete restoration, this example has been refinished in white and features Abarth-specific badging, chrome trim, a driver’s side mirror, and a dual exhaust outlet. It rides on alloy wheels dressed in Falken Sincera SN-807 tires from 2012. Additional images are provided in the gallery including photographs of the restoration.
The cabin features red vinyl upholstered front seats with matching door panels and carpets, a body-colored dashboard, and black floor mats with red piping. A “595 esse esse” badge adorns the dashboard, while a three-spoke steering wheel frames Abarth instrumentation. Equipment includes door-mounted grab handles, roll-up windows, and a manually operated sunroof.
The Abarth 595 derives power from a 594cc inline-two-cylinder engine generating as much as 32 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a full restoration has been carried out, and a host of service documentation will accompany the sale. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
